Please help! Car won't start!

I don't know why, but I went to start my car and it turned over whinned a couple times and died. I tried it again and it did the same thing only after the whinning it clicked really fast. The battery is fine because all my interior stuff still works (cd player, subs and amp, interior lights) I think its either the starter or the alternator but I'm not sure. Help and prices for new and remanufactured parts would be gratly appreciated.

the battery may not have enough amperage to crank over the car

Try charging your battery, and if you can start it and it dies after awhile its probably your alternator. But if you try jumping it and it doesnt start at all, try tapping the starter lightly with a hammer ( i know that works well on old cars, dont know about maximas)

DO NOT USE A HAMMER ON A MAXIMA STARTER
the maxima uses a permanent magnet starter which reacts badly to hammer hits

First clean your battery cables, check the water in the battery before charging. There is also a frame ground under your battery tray. Follow the ground cable from the battery towards the motor half way it will be bolted to the frame, remove bolt and clean this ground.

Thank you all for the help. I went to autozone today to get my battery charged but I have to wait till tomorrow(or maybe monday) to put it back in cuz it is locked up at school. Hopefully that is all that is wrong with it cuz I wanted to spend the $165 that I was gonna spend on a new starter on window tint instead

car won't start

you may have set off your factory alarm, if you did your car won't start, until you close your drivers side door, take the key and lock and unlock the door. it happened to me a couple of times, and keep trying to start the car will only drain your battery.

Thanks for all the help everyone, but it turned out that internetautomar was correct...I went to autozone and got it charged and the car started up just fine!
