Auto tranny fluid question

I have a 93 GXE. When I do the change of fluid, do I need to have anything adjusted? I know some autos have filters too, do we have one and does it need to be changed? Odds are this is the first time its been touched since it left the dealer in 93! Thanks in advance.

Just change, no filter in RE4F02. Good red oil, no real need to change.

simple drain and refill, or you can try the flush method where you take out the hose going from the radiator to the tranny, and turn out the car, and let the old fluid get pumped out... theres a writeup in the 5th gen stickies.

Just do the drain and fill, and not the 'flush' (which is BS IMO). If your using regular ATF and just one drain/fill, then do it every 15k miles (if you want it to last).

BE CAREFUL! If you haven't changed it before, fresh tranny
fluid may cause you to ruin the transmission. I had
an '89 Aries K that only had 89,000 mi.When I changed
the fluid a month later the tranny was toast.Need a
rebuild. If it shifts ok and is not burnt leave it alone.

how can fresh fluid damage a tranny?

That only goes for people who neglect their tranny, and crappy domestic cars. FYI, I had a 88 Relient and I sold it (running beautifully) at 240K miles, original tranny, original exhaust/cat, passes emissions.
