Farewell to all (sort of)...time to move on

Well this is an early farewell but I am no longer really interested in this 3rd gen forum since I am not keeping any 3rd gens and dont read it much anymore so I figured I would go ahead and give my (sort of) farewell here.

Long story short...someone made me an offer on my 92VE5 that I couldnt pass up so I sold it. Its not gone yet because I am painting it first. He will be picking it up on the 21st though. I will probably post some pics of my paint job for you guys.

Then after I paint and sell the 93 I will no longer have a 3rd gen.

I love the body style and really like my 92 (finally had it just like I wanted it) and will miss it but its finally time for me to move on to my true love which is classic american muscle.

I only got the 93 to learn body work on but the mod bug hit me and I got hooked on the 3rd gen. I have had more than many on here and have had good service out of all of them but I have learned enough body work to be confident I will not mess up my Chevelle when I start on it.

I doubt I ever own another 3rd gen because I doubt I could ever get one as nice as my 92.

Its a (sort of) farewell because I will still check the site and post every now and then but not very often I imagine. I just figured I would answer why I will not be on very often so I dont have to answer a million emails or post as to why I am not on much or why I sold my cars.

Feel free to email me if you have a question you think I will have an answer to though because I am always willing to help others out if I can.

Well, everyone has to move on sometime. For the right price, I would sell my car and probably buy something else, too.

It's sad to see probably the nicest 3rd gen on the site go to someone else, though.

You will be missed. Thanks a lot for all the help you have given me and the rest of these clowns.

man, awsmm66, you are one guy that i would never expect to leave. but just like Red92maxse said, for the right price, i think that any of us would sell our cars. but that owner better have given u a lot of $$$. Your help and advice has helped us all, especially me.

I hope the new owner becomes a member of this site (or is already one) so we can still see your car around..

Spoken like a pro. Plus my max resale is like $500 for the mileage and # of trannies (237k and 3 trannies.) So many of us excluding those with heavily modded maxima's such as Matt or Jason (N3JZ) can probably get much more than the resale value of their car.

But hopefully the new owner is an enthusiast and will be introduced to this site. I will love to see it on the board into the hands of another max owner. BTW : I want chevelle pics.

Sad to see you go Mike, your Maxima was looking *****en. It will certainly never be forgotten, I have a bunch of your pics saved. Take care of yourself, I dont blame you for the american muscle at all. I will hopefully still see you around on the real board. God Bless.

Wow mike. Your 93 is what made me fall in love with my 3rd gen. You've contributed so much knowledge to these forums that you will never really leave. Alot of people have come and gone on the board, but these pages will definitely remember you. Thanks for being bold enough to be the first to try the ebay CAI. Oh, and my corners. Thanks for tinting them. They still look good after about a year. Good luck with all your other projects to come.

woah, yeah i wouldn't have expected you to leave either. sad to see man but good luck with your new gas guzzler i'd have to disagree with you chris. the 3rd gen has been a part of my life since i was 10 years old and i've always seen it as a special car from the first ride i ever had in one. i wouldn't be surprised if i own one for the rest of my life or close to it. i realize there's nicer and faster cars out there but how can you argue with it's quality inside and out? see you on the flip side awsm..

Such knowledge wasted on a old gas guzzling carb pos.... Opps, forgot for a second I'm wanting a 69 Charger R/T. Good luck on it. I plan on keeping my Max for a long time. I've invested so much money into it... and also passed up 1 chance to trade it in. It's like being married, I just don't have the heart to trade it in for a newer model. Besides, the older ones always have more experience

Thanks for everything, and you will be missed by many, including me.
2 years ago, i moved on from the Z31 family and joined the 3rd gen
max, I still check the z31.com site once a while, i know what you must be feeling.
Good bye and enjoy what you are going to get next.
For me, when i am going to move on, i really like to get a M45(last model not the newer one), but before that, might be a j30 or Q45. Another gen of maxima? Don't think so.
Bye

sad to see you go mike, dont know what we'll do without you

like Maxima_Mike said, your 93 also made me fall in love with my GXE (and now I've got a VE5) , this picture in particular made me want to start modding mine (and now I've got projectors)

I wanna thank you for all your info and countless times you've helped me out through emails, and I may continue to email you..do you still have those tinted corners I sent you back? If you do PM me and maybe we can work something out, since you said I could just keep em had I not sent them back

Hope the 66 is AWSM!

Damn you too, I'm also moving on..selling my 3rd gen...looks almost similar to yours ( not as pretty thou ), but I do not have a garage anymore, so the modding will have to stop..I'm buying a fully modded 4th gen from a friend that needs nothing!!!

I still love the 3rd gen I can tell you that...I'll shed a tear when I let go of her..lol

Thanks for the kind words guys.

some comments.

The way some of you guys feel about the 3rd gen is how I feel about my Chevelle. I have had it since I was 15 and I am 33 (thats 18 years...older than some of you on here lol) now so you can see why I want to get back to it and start enjoying it again.

The 93 or 92 were not daily drivers but toys for me (I have a company car) so I am not selling or moving on just to get a newer car or anything. Just need to put some money in the bank and do some projects around the house.

Oh and my plans for the Chevelle are an LS1 with a 6speed for cruising. I plan on it being a high tech hot rod.

I dont really have any pics of it because its been apart for quite a while. I started to restore it about 9 or 10 years ago and just never finished because I found rust and wasnt sure how to do quarter swaps etc back then. That was why I practiced on the Maximas.

I will try to dig up my scan of it when I was 18. It doesnt look anything like that just before restoration though (different hood, wheels, stance etc.)

I will dig it up later.

Do you mind me asking how much u sold the Max for?

Okay........... so that supports Mr. Gone's post or yours? Yes, they sell crate engines but I think the point was it will take years to afford a $10k motor

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought he meant that it would take 10 years for LS7s to become readily available in junk yards. My impression was that he didn't realize they would be sold as crate motors.

I grew up on imports so this was interesting. I read Hot Rod mag every so often. The issue I had explained the all alumin LS1 type engine very completely. They also happend to review and dissect the Caddy 440hp supercharged Northstar engine. All very interesting. Amazing they take apart brand new engines and review it so fast.

But the most interesting part is GM's willingness to offer crate versions of their production engines so fast. I believe Ford does similar correct?

Odd to me as you would never see Nissan/Toyota etc.. offer crate engines of their oem stuff. Yeah you can buy a new engine but that's not really geared toward the enthusiast crowd.

Sorry to see you go man, definitely didnt see that on coming......understandable however, when you have a Chevelle sittin there waitin to be restored. If your Chevelle ends up lookin half as good as your Maximas did then itll really be one heck of an eye-catcher and a beautiful car. Keep in touch though dude. Good luck wit the classic bowtie.

Time and know-how maybe, I dunno. It would be cool to build one I guess.

Sorry to see you go man, your max is one of the best looking ones on here. I'd really like to see what you end up doing to that Chevelle considering what you've done to the Max. Hopefully the .org is still around when your done though

Crate motors are great for a street rod, but beyond that i'll build from the ground up.
Gotta love that SBC rumble
another car of mine with no muffler
though the max will probably get a muffler within the next couple of weeks.
