Going to purchase a flywheel...some questions.

Is Fidanza the only flywheel available for VEs? I can remember there being another one. I was just wondering if Fidanza is the best option.

Also, I am thinking of going with an OEM clutch. The car will be rolling with N/A power for a while so it wont see anymore than 210-220 total hp.

Anyone with a Fidanza/OEM Clutch set up? How does it feel?

unorthodox racing also makes a lightened flywheel for ve's, i believe both of these fw's to be comprable in performance. the face of these fw's will supposedly mate to any clutch surface. by the way, i have a used unortho fw for sale if interested, let me know if you want pics.

Getting a new clutch?

Don't get the OEM replacement clutch from Nissan. Our stock clutch wasn't that good to begin with, and the "Key Value" clutch that Nissan now sells is even worse. There are several clutches available for the Max, with even more opinions about them. While we all don't agree on the best replacement clutch, we do agree that the Nissan replacement clutch is a POS.

The oem clutch is plenty strong on these cars......We do not agree....

I have the AASCO, which is the one Stillen sells. I ran it with an OEM Replacement Exedy, and it was great....spin up is MUCH faster, this is IMO, the best single mod you can do.

My ACT is a little stiff and grabs a little hard. It is great for racing, but it sucks big time in traffic. After about 20 minutes, I want to pull over to the side. If I get another clutch, I am going to try an Exedy Stage 1.

I have a 75 Dodge truck and the clutch is easier to depress than the one on my Maxima.

Whata wimp! I drive in rush hour traffic everyday. You learn how to creep along is 1st so you not on/off the clutch pedal.

REAL OEM Nissan clutch parts = good quality, decent performance.
Nissan Key Value clutch KIT = scum of the earth, cheapola price and quality. I was the privledged 1st to discover this. ie.. order kit, install kit, swear many times over, yell at Nissan and ask them what the pluck are they selling, remove kit, return kit, get real nissan parts, reinstall nissan parts.

I would send stuff UPS before Parcel Post. If you can, cram stuff into a flat rate box. Otherwise, anything over about 7-8 lbs is cheaper UPS. Plus, you get up to $100 free insurance + tracking. With PP if you mess up something (like write the wrong zip code) you have to pay the postage amount to get the package returned to you.

Hey Jeff, what clutch do you have? The ACT is just a lot stiffer than the others.

I am fine in traffic with a normal clutch. On my first Max, I drove it over 100k miles in just a little over two years. I also commuted from The Dalles to North Portland every day in my 88 Celica, pushing that car from 130k to 260k in four years. It was a manual. Luckily, my commute now is only two miles and it takes about 5 minutes

until some biatch comes and cuts into your 'creeping cushion'

Only place I ever switched from driving the maxima to an auto was school first quarter, because the parking lot would have killed it (impossible to creep, you had to stop, wait, then pull up, stop wait, constantly pull up otherwise someone would cut infront of you, and of course the person infront had an auto so they would go fast enough that you would have to constantly move, but slow enough you couldn't just idle through it).
