pros and cons of grounding VTC's
Hi, I followed Craigs Braces' write up for grounding my
VTC's, and it really seems quiet after driving 70 miles. The only thing I noticed, was when I put the clutch in at stop signs and lights ,it goes down to 3-4 hundred rpms and then comes back up to normal. Then it misses a little now, but all other ranges in rpms' sounds and feels smooth and sometimes appears the have more power in mid and upper rpms. Now, the questions. What others+'s other than quieting the tapping are there if any? And what, if any damage, this might cause leaving it grounded? |
My experience from grounding the vtc's has been similar to yours over the past 3 yrs/100,000 miles except my car has never missed...
I think if this bypass/grounding was damaging to the engine, then i would have seen i sign of it by now...:gotme: |

I grounded mine on my old engine and it never idled right. Sometimes when I pushed in the clutch, it would just die.
I didn't care for that much, so I just ungrounded them and listened to to the diesel sound. I only had them grounded for a couple weeks, and I drove maybe 100 miles at the most. I don't know if driving more or for a longer time will help correct the idle problems, either. |
