HELP Max won't start
I own a 92 GXE. I went to visit my parents. When I went to leave my max wouldn't start. There was plenty of juice in the battery and it was doing that thing where it makes the initial sound of the starter trying to get the engine to start, but it wouldn't start.
Recently I took the car to check on an oil leak. The mechanic said the engine was too dirty with oil to check for the leak, and suggested I clean it. He also cleaned out the PVC valve, which he said was clogged and could be the source of the oil leaking. Anyway, I cleaned the engine with some gunk and a hose, but did it very carefully. I put plastic over the alternator and all electrical wires, etc... that would be even remotely close to the water. I also only hosed the engine off from the underside. I let it dry most of the day with the hood up. It started just fine and was giving me no problems. There were two occasions where it was a little rough when I started it up, but that was only two occasion out of a week and a half. Right now its still parked at my parents home and I'll have it towed to my mechanic this afternoon. I just thought I'd ask in case there was an obvious solution. thanks, John |
i'm guessing there's gas in the car:) i'd check fuel pressure, check that fuel pump is priming.

Thanks for the reply.
Just before I was getting ready to call AAA to have the car towed I called my dad and asked him to check to see if the fuel pump fuse had blown. I did a search and found that was the problem with a situation that sounded identical to mine. My dad called me back to say the car started right up. He figured he'd check that before doing anything else. I wonder if the wiring to the fuel pump is loose and just moving the car to the back of the driveway last night jiggled it back in place. Does anyone have any similar experiences? thanks, John |
