Electric Seat Belt won't move
I have bought a maxima that the driver seat belt wont move up. I see a cable hanging down in the track. My Haynes manual doesn't even talk about electric seat belts. My dad thinks its a broken belt but i have no idea and no idea how to go about starting this. Take off the trim inside the car around the track? Anyone do this before?

The seatbelts systems have a lifetime warranty from nissan, but you may have to fight with your local dealership to get them to honor the warranty...
I would threaten to picket sign the place if they don't fix them...:chuckle: |
Nissan WILL fix this for you...it's a safety issue.

Why do people keep saying that you have to fight Nissan? I have the warranty manual and it clearly states LIFETIME warranty.

Because most of the guys that have posted this same issue or other issues concerning the seatbelts of the years i have been here have had problems out of their local dealers honoring the warranty... Most dealers don't like to do warranty work on 15 yr old cars... |
I don't see why not. They still get paid for the owrk. They submit the claim to Nissan. So it's not like they are not getting paid.

warranty rate < regular rate

Just be clear that you know for a fact it has a lifetime warranty...In fact, it might even say that in the owner's manual.

I had some trouble with my local dealer. I guess they just try to talk you into actually paying for it, I have no idea.
It wasn't that big of a deal. I just didn't give up when the first bumble at the service desk wouldn't listen to me. I even had the warranty booklet marked at the proper page. As an added bonus, both of the front seatbelts are all one assembly, so you get both done at the same time. Now my car has nice new seatbelts in it. :doublethu |
mine work fine but they don't retract all the way if unbuckled. guessing since it isn't a safety issue they won't replace them. But then again i could fray a seatbelt or jam a screwdriver in the track while it is moving, ha ha ha jk. just wondering how many people actually buckle the lap belt?

I usually do espcially since i have leather, if you jam on the brakes it feel like you will slide under the shoulder belt.

I hit the back of a coal truck in my maxima and that electric should belt saved me from hitting the steering wheel and dash. My knees did hit the dash and it broke the dash. My knees didn't hurt much at all and the dash was an easy fix. 5 dollars at a junkyard. That piece with the buttons. Cliff Clavin, i love seeing that picture of your car. Looks just like mine did before the accident. If you want to see - http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2556815

I have a 95 Taurus SHO, a 90 maxima i plan to sell, and i'm buying a 92 max off of propz to do an engine swap with the car i wrecked. It is a shame. I tryed to get help to fix mine (cheap parts or a cheap frame alignment), but to no avail. I didn't get any insurance money. So i'll have a car to part out (mine) once i get this one off propz. You guys can put in to reserve parts to buy if you want. Just no front end
