put 19's on my max but rubbing an issue now..Pics!!
 

the front tires are fine...rubbing only when i turn the wheel all the way....however the rear wheels are rubbing on the suspension....(inner top closest to the car)...i don't want to spend money on tires...the wheels i put on are 245-40-19...I know they're big however i had them on my altima and they bolt fine.....do you guys recommend spacers to fix this or do i need to go back to the oem wheels?

any other opinions and thoughts are appreciated

as long as theres enough room to 'space' then spacers should be your best bet. if its tight against the fender after you have them in, just roll the fenders a bit.

it all depends on how much of a spacer you need.

for a trial fit, buy a bunch of 1/2" washers from the hardware store and stack them on the wheel studs until the tire stops rubbing.
once you get that, measure how thick the stack of washers is and buy a spacer that corresponds.

as for a source, I wound up having to buy them online. called around all over houston and couldn't find a place.

Might wanna also try 245/35/19 tires. A little lower profile tire might sneak by. As for spacers I would go ebay.

yeah the 35 profile is way closer to stock diameter.
stock diameter is 25.5"
245/40/19 diameter is 26.7" (4.8% too large)
245/35/19 diameter is 25.8" (1.0% too large)

i wouldn't want such wide tires on these cars anyways. they turn wide at full lock as it is. I'd like to have a 30-50% increase (50% being our current full-lock steering occurring at just one full turn of the wheel, instead of one and a half) in responsiveness of turning and range of motion... but how would that be done? a custom PS rack? or does our suspension geometry prevent it completely?

sorry but 35 series tires are not an option....gotta be a spacer....i need to find them online...any recommendations of which sites to check (ebay aside)

has anyone used spacers on there max before? if so, what size did you get? one more thing....what is the offsett for 94 gxe?

i know tirerack.com has eibach spacers... not sure how overpriced/underpriced they are though.

a few independant tuner shops around me sells them. you might wanna look into it around your area.

The size spacer you use is completely dependent on how much clearance you need, not what anyone else did is gonna be right for you. Go get some washers and find out how big of a spacer you need and then buy that size like matt said

Get some good machined Hub-centric spacers. And the cheap ebay ones that say hub-centric are not true HUB-centric. Donno what hub-centric is? Google it.

Go with H-R's or have them custom made. Take your time and gt it right the first time.... 3 months and 300 bucks(Not including wheel studs), I should be seeing my spacers in next Tuesday. :)

Remember the wider the spacer the longer stud you need. Depending on the design of the wheel you can sometimes use a 5mm spacer without different studs.

option auto salon offers genuine good quality hub centric spacers from H& R and some other maker.

this sucks...i have the wheels on the car and it actually looks good...but cant go anywhere....i have a bad stock tire....i will put them back on the car but on the rear.....oh well....again, daily driver nothing special...i dont want to put much into this thing.....i'll have to get a new tire and just drive with the oem wheels....sorry no pics...digi cam is dead.............rip

There are plenty of reputable companies on ebay that sell quality parts as well. I bought a couple sets of spacers for my car a while back off ebay. $25/pair for 3/8" CNC machined 6061-T6 spacers. can't get much better than that.

my ve has 17's from a newer maxima and the tires are thick
so when i turn esp. if the car is leaning they rub on the mudflap a little
in the wheel well ...no care ,but it sounds bad

ok...so come to find out my right front tire was bad....car was sitting for a while before i bought it....i put the 19's on and the front wheels cleared...close but cleared......the rear's i had to do a little modification.....had to hammer in the suspension alittle..lol.....was a small piece of metal on the strut/shock...whatever it is and i had to hammer it flush to it...now the rears fit...no rubbing...no marks on the tire anywhere....again daily beater.....looks cool...i'll try to post pics soon..
