A stupid question I'm sure but...

Does anyone know why some 3rd generation Maximas have backs where the "Maxima" logo is in the red part (like my 90 GXE) and others have the Maxima logo in a white part of the back, and the red/white scheme looks different? Is it the GXE/SE difference or the VG/VE difference, or something else?

I'm going to have to disagree with Brandon90gxe on this one. I wondered about the style of the tail end of the vehicle before, and seeing this post made me go look at pics from 89-91 and 92-94 models in both SE and GXE trims.
First for 89-91, The SE and GXE trim seem to have the same style of taillights, but different styling on the plastic piece on the trunk. My 90 SE has the upper part of the plastic as black with a grey/beige color lettering on the decals. The GXE trim (judging by pics of Brandon's max) has the upper part of the plastic as Red with a lighter red color for the decals.
The 92-94 have a different style with the top of the trunk having red plastic and the white strip on the bottom sloping away rather than turning the corner of the taillight. The lettering is near the bottom of the trunk in the white strip on these models. The taillight style seems to be the same on SE and GXE trims for these years.
Here's pictures I found on Maxima.org member's websites of their trunks:
89-91 SE Trunk (MaximaSE91) : http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/T...831/page4.html
89-91 GXE Trunk (Brandon90gxe) : See Brandon's album (link in his sig), It has a few good pics.
92-94 SE Trunk (Matt93SE, hope you dont mind me poking around your website finding pictures that aren't readily out there ): http://www.ee.utulsa.edu/~mblehm/pic...1/MVC-006S.JPG
92-94 GXE Trunk (Jesse93GXE) : http://www.lumiere.net/~j/93maxima/4.jpg
Most of what I said is based on these pictures so feel free to correct me if I am wrong
