I have a 89 GXE with Digital Dash when i bought it it wasnt working i tooked it to some auto electricians they couldnt figure it out the problem wreckin yard has it for $500 w/o Warranty.....they said they can converted to Regular Meter for $400 w/Life Time Warranty...i need some of your opinions to see which is the best deal....And 2nd of all the Exhaust System i hear this "Pot Pot Pot" Sound whenever i press the PeDAL....when i start it the noise is on thier but when pressing the pedal it makes that Pot Pot noise......so what u guys think it could be the Manifold Pipe? or i need to change the entire muffler system?? thanks Note:(its not from the spark plugs)

sorry man, you just shouldnt have bought an 89 with digital dash that wasnt working in the first place. you're gonna have to spend big bucks no matter what....

I have a 90 GXE also with a digi dash.
the dash once stayed completly black i took it out.
saperated the electronic unit and the lcd part.
find out that on the electronic unit the current surge limited device (this is somekind of safety)was blown
its a black electronic component with the code ZNR 220 k on it.(you can find data about this component on the net at
digikey)put a new component in and the dash is still oke
anyway take the dash out and look if you see anything
strange.otherwise see if you can get only the electronic
unit this is mostly the problem.
exhaust possible broken studs.

Sounds like a Manifold leak.. I got my entire manifold and gasket replaced and 4 broken studs (youch) The studs were so bad they had to tap and drill them out.
