Sorry man, I got my tranny rebuilt for $1500 out the door. And that is cheap compared to some quotes I got. Plus they installed a transgo shift kit included in that $1500

guaranteed you can prolly sell the car outright for a good price even with a bad tranny with that kind of mileage..

i had an automatic, well i never really pushed the tranny too hard but on some occasional races i took it pretty hard. other than that i treated like a new car and didnt floor it that much.

My auto has 130k original miles on it. I guess I've just been lucky or something. It's running great, no slipping, no hard shifts or anything. Did you have any warning signs that the tranny was gonna go? Hard shifts, major slipping or things like that, or did it just happen out of the blue?

khrfadz - bro, I'm feeling you with the transmission blues…

khrfadz,

Sorry to hear about your tranny troubles, bro. I'm having the same problems, but I've got a 5sp.

I'm sure you trust your mechanic, but if you live in the LA area, I found a place that's doing my transmission rebuild COMPLETE with a TWO YEAR/24K mi. warranty for only $450 (w/o tax if I pay cash). The place is called MK Transmissions in Gardena, CA. He'll also include my clutch for $150 more if I need it done, so that's $600 out the door, cash munny!! Can't hurt to call...

I'm taking the car to him tomorrow, and the guy I spoke to told me that it's a two-day job, so I'm looking to be back in the driver's seat early next week. This place specializes in transmissions, and with the warranty they're offering, it sounds great

Good luck, bro!

khrfadz…

If you have AAA, they'll tow your car for you. They have some kind of expanded service that costs an extra $35/year (on top of the normal club membership) that allows you to tow your car as far as 100 miles for free (4x/year).

Just trying to helpabrothaout!!!

There's someone in maryland with that did a 5 speed on his 92 GXE. His engine gave up on him though.

hey dude, if you tranny just all of a sudden died like that, you should check to see if the piping running through the radiator got busted or not. After I replaced my tranny, the new tranny started slipping after 2 months or so. Turned out the coolant and tranny fluide was mixing together inside the radiator. Very bad stuff. Had to return the tranny and replace it under warranty but I also had to replace some radiator hoses that got eaten up from the tranny fluid.
