Proud New Owner of a '92 SE!!!

The title is self-explanatory, but now I need some good ideas for first mods. As I am 16, I have a limited cash flow, so please keep that in mind with your suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help.

Congrats on your purchase! I'm sure you'll be very happy with it. A good cheap mod would be a FSTB (front strut tower brace).... unfortunately all them made today only fit properly on the VG engined Max's (anything other than a 92-94 SE). Some people have bent the bars or modified the mounts to make them fit. Clear corners look great, but a few people have claimed they tend to fall apart after a while. Dunno how much it costs, but a rear sway bar (RSB) would make a nice difference. Use the "search" feature to help find info on these things.

So, tell us more about your ride! What colour is it? Milage? Auto or stick? (Any interesting stories about getting it?) I'm just kinda curious because I'm almost in the same boat - I just got my baby last week!

You need to get a K&N air filter that costs about $45 for your maxima, but will last forever and increase your hp by as much as 10%. I think my car runs better with it. If you think of all the times you will change the ordinary air filter and how much they cost, in no time you will have the K&N paid for and again it will last forever.

The flip side of the K&N filter is that you WILL have to put up with washing it out and re-oiling it whenever it gets dirty. Personally I think (and others may agree) that 10% gains is just the company line, and a bit of a stretch. Expect maybe a few more horses (maybe 5-8ish?)

Depends on if you want cosmetic mods or performance mods. For cosmetics you could tint your windows which for me was $180 but worth it, clear corners which i paid $70 for but you could get them cheaper, if you have a 5speed get a short shifter pacesetter makes one for $60, and new ultra white headlight bulbs which i paid $30 for and $25 for the clear corners. Performance you could get an intake, i got the stillen hi-flow which was EXPENSIVE $170 not worth it, FSTB which i paid $120 for and its the freedom design bar and i didnt modify it at all. Those are just some suggestions but do what you want to do!!!!

Oooh ooh! Where you got your FSTB from? Is there a website, or did you find a shop that carries it, etc? Does it fit really well, or does it seem like a fluke and just barely fit? Gimme some info please!

I agree with the 5-8 hp gains. I think the company states UP TO 10%. But, every little increase helps. I had one guy tell me that it was more like .005 and that octane boost would not give better performance. Well, it certainly won't boost like a supercharger or turbo, but there will be a cleaner burn of fuel and a little more pep in driving.

Alright, you want more details. Let's see..it's a pearlish or off-white color. It was really dirty when I bought it so it looked almost beige. It has 116K on it, and it's an automatic. I couldn't find a stick Max in my price range in my area. It runs perfectly. I paid $4K for it. Anything else?

Go to Pep Boys and get a $25 APC cone filter. Then, take out your stock airbox and get that brass ring inside it. There's your adapter. You'll see what I'm talking about, once you take it apart. For $25, you can have the same thing as a $100 POP charger. I think it should be your first mod. Then, a Y-Pipe.

i made a custom pop charger for the price of the filter. here's a pic. i'm gonna put a real k&N on it as soon as i get around to it. this only cost me 20 bucks, and that was the price of the filter.
