Door locks quit!
hey guys my parents maximas power door locks just quit. My dad was changing the oil, then after the power door locks wouldn't work. you have to unlock/lock each one manually, when you push the pdl button nothing happens. I couldn't find any fuses for the system
|
then check all the fuses.
|
I used to have to twist the key in the door lock twice to unlock all the doors. Now I just twist once to do it. And I never got my remote to work at all.
|
I'd also like some info on this as I cannot seem to get my key to fully lock the driver door from the outside, seems to only lock fully from the inside, but i suppose thats a door panel issue maybe

Do some searching. Your door lock timer probably is broken or has a bad solder in it.
|
it is the door lock timer. its under your steering wheel to the right and it is the most commen thing to go wrong and have failing door locks. its the soldering inside the unit and ill say this for those not able to do a good soldering job dont mess with it. i would recommend either A getting a new unit from Nissan or B risk it and buy a used unit from a salvage yard.

Another way to tell if its bad will be a loud tick/click under your steering wheel immediately after attempting to lock or unlock your doors. I'm currently acquiring one and fixin it for another member. If anyone else is interested I can probably pick some more up and resolder all the joints and let em slide for fair prices |
Thanks same problem
I'm new to my car and that is one of the things wrong with mine. Pasenger side won't unlock. I love the keypad entry. Only had the car 3 days. Like it so far.

turn the key twice and all the doors should be unlocked.

isn't it different for 89-91's and 92-94. my 89 unlocks and locks all doors with one turn. except the passenger side only unlocks all doors, doesn't lock them, but the manual says this is how it is supposed to work...

don't get a new unit. I'm sure if you are too worried about ruining it if you can't solder, im sure someone you know can do it. |

Problem may or may not sit t here - resolder wont hurt if done properly = ensures that all prospects for this problem will run out from t here. Banging the door wont affect timer, possibly door actuator /contacts... Door lock pwr comes via Batt fusible link (grn), under the hood. Then the wiring to door locks goes through the Super Multiple Junctions =SMJ's. There is a circ breaker in the left farthest corner under dash (a short makes it...clic clic).... There it goes to door lock timer, a box under dash. If I get it right, door keyhole switch gets juice via 10A fuse, left, second from bottom. |
