help!--just bought 94 gxe

ok--so i just got a '94 gxe. 75,000 miles. was once part of a fleet in california, now it's here in michigan with me. so far, i've had to replace the drums on the rear brakes, as well as the front brake pads. because i've heard that trans fluid/filter change is dire by 75,000 miles, i'm getting that done tomorrow.
so tell me--should there be a filter with this job or not? what are some specific things i should ask them to check out while it's there? i have this on a thirty day warranty that includes tranny and powertrain.
is there anything else that i should have checked out pronto? i.e., what goes wrong with this model by this amount of miles? what kind of preventive things can I do right now? don't have much money left (nor do i have tools), but I want this thing to last a long, long time.
any suggestions or help would be great.

I bought a 93 GXE 3 years ago, haven't had any under the hood problems, just interior. Watch out for the stereo... 3 maximas in my family of same vintage and all three of us have had to send it off for repairs. Also, window regulators break (window goes down, but not up, or won't stay up) but all of this is in the $100 repair range. Good luck... ;)

Congratulations you just bought good car.
The only things that go wrong with these cars are the stereos and the windows, I have also had to replace the trany but if you take care of your car it should be ok.

i have a 94 gxe. its a great car! just dont run it hard all the time (sometimes is okay) and its a must to do maintence (oil, plugs, etc.) if you do this it will pretty much last forever. and ya, the stereo goes bad quickly. just save yourself the hassle and get an aftermarket if you listen to tunes a lot.
