Engine Mods (Pistons, Cams, Compression Ratio's)

I have a 89 maxima SE, its the second maxima i've owned. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on engine mods. I have been trying to find out if the new 3.5 V6 would fit in the 3rd gen maximas. And what if any prefab you would have to do to get it in. Also I'm having a hard time finding places that sell after market racing equipment for maximas. If anybody knows where to look, let me know.Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

go to a search engine and look these up:

Nismo(cams), JWT(cams), Crower(pistons, rods), Arias(pistons), JE(pistons)....Extrude Hone.

as for fitting he new 3.5 into the 3rd gen....I seriously doubt it!

Sure, you could put the VQ35DE into the 3rd Gen. You would need the ECU, transmission, an excellent machine shop to fabricate custom motor mounts and halfshafts, and probably some custom steering linkage. This assumes that the motor would fit in the engine bay.

Finally, where do you propose to aquire an engine?!? There can't be to many wrecked Nissans available to salvage this engine. If there were, I bet it would be expensive. For the price the work would cost you, I bet you get a VE30DE 5spd, rebuild it, and still have some money left for mods.

Just some random thoughts...

You could always go with the VG33 from the minivans and pathfinder(?), same stroke as the VG30 larger bore. Nismo sells a stroker kit$$$, but I think it would be around 3.5 when it's all said and done. I was going to doo this before my tranny started giving me problems and I decided to sell my car.

The VG33 is the same block, just bored out. You would need the block and heads. All the other things should bolt right back up, key word is should, I didn't get that far with my research. I can't remember where I had seen the stroker kit, mabey I am remembering the one I saw for the VG30DE made by SGP Racing. I don't know if the cranks would be interchangable.
