Radiator Fan Won't Start

Hey,

It its 100F here in NJ and my car doesn't seem to like that weather. I was driving for an hour to philly today and on the way back my car began to over heat. I stopped checked the hood ... waited a while and my rad. fans wouldn't start. At the end I ended up connecting my fan directly to the battery and driving home.

With my car I have noticed that when it gets really hot my fan seems to stop working. The mechanic at Nissan told me before that it is probably a problem with the ECU. But I am thinking its a sensor ? what do you guys think ?

thanks a mil.

ur right its got to be a sensor or belive it or not check the fuse

burhan92SE Jul 18, 2008 08:33 PM

it could be your coolant temperature sensor....it defiantly should be if ur fuse is gud....

Hey, all the fuses and relays are good. I did some research and it has to be the Coolant Temperature Sensor. Today my car was even choking from too much fuel. thanks! :D

I will fix it tomorrow.

BTW. I forgot to mention that when I was accelerating in the heat today the engine was very week and was making a rattling sound as if I was dragging a piece of metal (scraping the ground). This sound only occurred when I pressed the gas. When I fixed the fan, and the temp went down, the noise went away.

thanks. BTW should I use any sealant or lubricant when installing it ? or just directly install it ?

when u will buy a new Coolant temp sensor u will get new seals with it, just use them and u r gud to go...but remember when u change ur CTS ur engine should be cold other wise u might get burned by HOT coolant cuz wen u take old CTS out coolant gonna come outta there...so let ur engine cool down then change it....ur cooling system will work alot better with new CTS.....if u will have any problems just post it here and we will help u:D
