Greeny's VE "Retired" 1-08-09 "The Green Mile":-(

:(

Welp, she's done folks.. My trans locked me out of 1st through 3rd gear 3 times this week, I'm tired of fooling with this car, so i'm putting her to rest. It's been a great a great car for me for 9 years. I will be parting it out most of the car here, so if you want/need some ve parts, look for the f/s thread in the classifieds.

The likely replacement: 94 BMW 525I w/108k

I was originally going to find a v8 bmw, but this one has such low mileage, i think i just can't pass it up.

Noooo.. Say it ain't so... say it ain't so.
So you don't want to rebuild/swap the trans?

How disappointing :(

Sadly, i barely wanted to drive the car for the last few years, much less work on it. I will never own a car for this long again. :slant:

ChrisMan287 Jan 8, 2009 12:27 PM

Damn what a sad day. GL with that BMW.

Wow, but you put so much miles on that car than me. I thought you and the GreenMax94 was like a "boy and his faithful dog." But now I see it was more of an Ike and Tina relationship. :jester:

But now that you only have a VG in the family, and we know VG trans, will there be a time when we heard the last of Greeny? :noes:

Jeff92se Jan 8, 2009 12:45 PM

duh you went l33t on us! Sorry to hear about the car. I still think it would be more cost effective to throw another trans in there and sell the whole thing. Maybe an orger in the area will want it?

Hectic Jan 8, 2009 12:45 PM

Why have you barely wanted to drive it for the past few years? It's too bad you lost the love.. Whatever you do, make sure whoever buys it puts it back on the road, green SE's aren't exactly common.

Yeah, I know it would bring a few $$ if i fixed it, but i just don't want to screw with it anymore. :jeffy:

 yeah, it's been kind of a love/hate relationship with us for the last few years.

The vg isn't going anywhere for a while, she's still young.:) nor will i.

It's going to be parted out, then the carcass will be hauled to the recyclers..

i understand how you feel about working on it. i dont want to fix the body on mine anymore. the more the rust grows the less i want to work on it. the Bmw is a good choice. they are strong long lasting cars.

3g94MaxGXE Jan 8, 2009 01:06 PM

eww @ BMW

I must be the only Maxima driver who hates them with a passion.

DanNY Jan 8, 2009 01:12 PM

prepare to pay twice for parts and doing twice the work on it. :D
that'll teach you to go German on us!! :slap:

good luck. let the part-out begin!!!

Yeah, the growing rust issue in my driver rear wheel well is a big factor in me deciding to part the car out instead of selling it outright.

3g94MaxGXE Jan 8, 2009 01:30 PM

Should have got a 4th gen or a G35 or something if you didn't want a 3rd gen haha. I just looked at the price of a 03-04 G35 used and it's like $12,000 average...damn nice price IMO.

well crap..... another one bites the dust. Is anyone besides me surprised that the TRANNY died, and still not the engine? Darned O' Unreliable VE's.......

Do you not get it yet dumbass? :rotz: I'm not getting rid of my car due to the problems it currently has, i am moving on because i am simply tired of driving the same damn car for 9 ****ing years!! it's been a great/reliable car, i just no longer want to maintain this car for a d/d..I'm sick and tired of this car. I know mid 90's beemers are not more reliable then a 3rd gen maxima, i don't care about that. i want to go back to rear wheel drive cars(my real car passion), but not domestic. got it???

It's my second transmission for this car.. first one died @ 280k

RWD is nice I'm not denying that, though I still don't like the BMW compared to G35s (also RWD 4 door...though available with AWD as well) whether or not you could afford one or not I don't know and other various (but not so common) Nissans and Toyotas.

You are one crappy mod though, I was trying to civilly disagree with your decision and you insist on calling me a dumbass? Like **** I have made maybe 2-3 offensive posts on this forum because ****head mods like you and matt piss me off with your moderating decisions.

MrGone Jan 8, 2009 02:46 PM

Sad day :(

Can't go wrong with the 6 cyl BMW, sure not as much power as the V8's but they also don't have the problems the 8's do.

Some would agree, most disagree..:gotme:

But most would agree that you most definitely one of the most useless members we have in our good forum today, you post useless/incorrect garbage, help no one.. so have fun on the other side..:)

CapedCadaver Jan 8, 2009 02:50 PM

myself and select few excluded of course...

How old are you? Work on your ability to respect another persons decision and stop trying to project your opinion on others. Are you actually trying to compare a G35 to an E34?

7-series sucked (early 90s vintage)
back when I started on here I was working for a dealer, and he kept getting in 7series BMWs and 5 series.
We had alot of them at my uncles shop from this dealer and they all had issues.
the 540 was fun, but the 7 series not so much.
I would give though to a Volvo 740 turbo, or a 940/S90/V90
I actually drove an S90 earlier today, not bad, but we have snow on the ground so I couldn't really open her up. Brakes were GREAT though (S90 is RWD)

GRNMAXDMON Jan 8, 2009 04:27 PM

sad to see the great VE go like that. don't worry im also have the love/hate thing going on with my 3rd gen. but i still love my 3rd gen. glad to see you are going to a BMW now. reminds me of "ME". i personally like the E39 body the most aside from the E46 M3 and my E90. but i originally wanted an E39 540i. good luck with the new ride man.

KRRZ350 Jan 8, 2009 04:42 PM

That looks like a very nice find, and a pimpin' upgrade. I'm suprised the seller didn't try to line up that bumper, & wax it, once that's done it will be pretty damn flawless. I still can't get over that engine bay & the interior! Clean as hell. It must be a german thing? I had an 81 benze coupe with that same color combination, it looked flawless for the miles & age it had as well. You'll be getting randomn compliments on that car all the time, maybe even daily, definitly one of those purchases that, assuming you can afford it, it will make you happy in the end.

The only thing though is......Slushbox FTL!! (ooops, don't want to get banned for stating an opinion :wall: ) No seriously though I know some people won't buy stick shift for valid reasons, and that's a beauty of a car.

Yeah, that's another thing i am tired of..shifting..i actually want a "slushbox" trans, thankfully the bmw slushers are good for around 200k like the ve/vq autos.

The reason he didn't "clean it up" was due to some clear coat damage from a pine tree..:slant: But meh, cant go wrong for $2500. :)

maxitech Jan 8, 2009 05:04 PM

Getting tired of shifting is a sure sign of getting old...:bustrun:
IMO you should do what most folks who live in the country should do: park it out back 'cause you never know when you'll need it.

I wouldn't think a Tennessee car would have any rust, where was it from originally? Before you said that I was going to protest the waste of a perfectly good body. Don't rule out that someone still might want it in as-is condition...

Pics of rust, maybe?

I am more seriously looking at C5 'vettes myself these days. Still not sure if I will keep or sell...

Coincidentally, a little bird told me another member will be picking up his car's replacement in short order...

Good luck with the Bimmer, I've always had a soft spot for them...
