How'd He Manage This?

Description from a 3rd Gen I found for sale on Ebay:

I am shocked, today my father started a fire under the dash in my car today while trying to replace a fuel pump. The interior is destroyed and the fire department broken trunk and rear bumper. The doors, front clip, V6 3000 engine, transmission, everything firewall forward, wheels and tires are in good shape. It was a good daily driver. The car is for sale complete and not as individual parts.

How would one do this? The only thing you'd need to be messing with under the dash is the fuse panel when you remove the fuse...Can't say I've ever started a fire trying to remove a fuse...:flame::scratch:

Maybe he was using a lighter to illuminate the fuse label? Or the wiring was degraded and started a fire somehow?

Maybe it was a back burn to keep a possible fuel tank fire from destroying the engine.

then again maybe the fire didn't start under dash but in the backseat where the access cover is.
