pilot bearing and my 1992 transmission input shaft?

so I pulled the auto converter bearing out of the crank(PITA). and I was looking at putting the pilot bearing in there, but on my transmission(1992 vg30 5spd trans) it doesnt look like it would fit in a pilot bearing, there is nothing for it. Am I missing something? Does the little insert fall out, Im used to 300zxs, as far as I know they stay in there. By the way the pilot bearing is from a Z31 clutch kit, should work either way.

Any one looking to pull this bearing out, go to harborfrieght and get the blind bearing puller set for like 30-40 bucks, its worth it(by the way this kit is 160 to rent from pepboys, and autozone and advanced have junk kits).

But here is what im talking about, click on image to make them huge. Should I just install the pilot bearing and install the trans? or is something missing that I need? I want this car on the road bad........ been messing with it for a week now.

I pried off the auto bushing with 1 of the legs of a 3 prong puller(steering wheel, crank, bushing etc.)

Install the bushing. I think the bushing just helps align the clutch disc.

Nice cobra wheels btw.

O ok... well the converter bushing or bearing whatever you want to call it was a BI#%h, But I want to do things the right way. But thanks...

How do those wheels fit? are they the stock offset(24 I believe, mine are 17x9 all around, cobra rs, yours are the svt, i dont know if they are different) I was supposed to try and fit them but never got around to it since the front of my maxima is off of the ground with no front suspension I dont want to try to jack up the rear. Once I get this running im taking insurance off of my Z and driving this maxima after the 26th or so, Going to a drift event in the Z on the 25th so...........

But thanks for the quick reply.

These are 98 cobra wheels. 17x8 30mm offsets (or near). Clear bbks with no spacers is what I like about them. 17x9 and 24mm offset isn't going to go well on the maxima but trying won't cost anything.

The reason I love these wheels is that they fit with no spacer, close to flush with the fenders(on a 85 they fit the rear better, they could use spacers to come out more, or fix the camber would help too), and they are 17x9. thinking of going 17x10-11 in the rear, I have about a inch or more clearance on the back side, and 17x11 would add 1 inch on both sides, and i could get difference offset, I want some cobra Rs in the rear with a lip. one of my rear ones got damaged on the inside of it so i need to replace 1 so I just want to upgrade.

Yea I keep seeing around 30 offset on these forums... Ill probable see how they do before I take the car off of the jackstands once the 5spd swap is done.
