Just FYI, I recently replaced my alternator with one from the JY for $29. So far so good. The original OEM alty that I had rebuilt back in 2002 for about $116 laster me 7 years. I think that it mostly went bad because I haven't been driving the car much the past 3 years and was trying to charge up depleted batteries by running the car every few months for a while.
I did get a new Napa battery and will run the JY alty until it dies and then get a rebuilt one from Advanced Discount Auto Parts with a lifetime warranty for about $89. Otherwise I might just have my original one rebuilt and use that when the JY alty goes. You might also get lucky at a U-Pull JY and find an alternator that is a recent rebuilt or replaced one. Doesn't hurt to try. Good luck!
Oh, and it's not at all difficult to replace it yourself. All you need is to remove the lower passenger side splash shield, jack up the passenger side or use ramps, and remove the old alternator using a ratchet and 12mm and 14mm sockets and a short extension. If it's dirty with oil don't be afraid to use degreaser and a hose to clean it as long as you let it dry overnight before running it.
