Does the P/S system on 3rd gens overheat?

Today I had to change the power steering reservoir tank and the cooling tube from a 94 GXE because last night I found out the original reservoir and tube on my 89 blocks the path of the R-134a low pressure A/C hose (I am converting A/C to R-134a). What I'm concerned about though is that the cooling line on the 94 is much shorter than the 89 version. So I am wondering if the P/S system in our cars ever overheat? I searched around the forums and didn't find any posts about any overheating issues with the power steering. So hopefully it won't mess up my system by doing this.

If i'm out to the track with a 1994 GXE and I run it hard to max temp, my P/S fluid is not quite touchable but almost.

Never had a problem on my car, even at autoX and road course events where I'm sawing the wheel back and forth for 30+ min at a time.
