Help !! Maxima Guru's

well this is the first time that I have ever had a problem with my max, ok when you first start it up sometimes, it will idle rough, and when you accelerate it kinda shakes tryint to accelerate, although this does not happen all the time.... Sometimes its fine and it rips.... but when it does happen the car seems to loose power, and it also seems to idle about 1200, as opposed to 750 where it shoudl be... let me know what you guys think.....

check your spark plugs and wires... that's the first idea I've got..

after that, you might try your mass air sensor, and distributor/ distrib cap.

I think you probably have a broken spark plug, maybe two. Also, if your wires are stock, replace them with something 8mm or higher, as the hich compression of your engine will react better to a cleaner spark.
You can also check your injectors by sticking a wire hanger in the end of a stethescope and placing it on each one while the car is at idle. If the injector ticks off time or doesn't tick at all, you need to replace it. Sometimes, if it just ticks off time but is still ticking more than not, you can get a good fuel system cleaning (I recommend from a professional and not an off the shelf detergent) and take care of the problem that way.

You know, that sounds totally like a bad water temp. sensor. You may have to pull a code from the ECU to figure this out, but my guess is one of the sensors has decided to die on you, or the connection has oxidation in it(bad/cracked nissan wiring seals). You'll have to set your ECU in mode 2 and your check engine light will flash the code(# of long flashes=first number, # of short flashes=2nd number). I think the FSM has the code key to whats up with your car. Good luck.

well i dont think....

I dont think that its a water temp sensor because it has nothing to do with whether or not the car is warm or cold, one time it started to do it when the car was already warm... I also think it has something to do with the spark plugs, last night i went and started it up and would punch the throttle while i check for a spark jump anywhere and I didnt see that either, but all i have to say is that I really hope that its not an injector..

But thanks for the input guys i appreciate it

CHECK YOUR EGR VALVE. SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE A STICKY EGR. push on the diaphragm with the engine idling, it should stall if you hold it for a sec. Push on it to feel if it sticks. It might leak internally too. The only sure way to test it is to remove it. It could be your auxiliary air control also(AAC).

Interesting...
The minds of you people blow me out of the water!!! Next time I'm having a baffling engine problem I will hit the forums before seeing a mechanic! I still think it's the plugs, though. I would pull them out & check em just in case.
