Depends on your state's highway laws.

I do know that many states make it illegal for drivers
to have front shining lights in any other color than
white or yellow.

The usual colors for the LEDs also happen to be the usual colors for Emergency lights, some states or towns porbably won't like that

red is illegal 100%, but just look on the box.....if it says off-road use only then you shouldn't have them on your car while driving! most liikely they are illegal even if white, but it all depends how pressed the cops are in your area about those type of mods!

yeah man, red is really bad. .. just wire em to a switch. i have white . . but they look sorta blue, i just leave em on all the time. . . never gotten pulled over . :knock on wood:

noleafclover Dec 22, 2001 12:16 AM

i'm pretty sure any color other that blue or red is legal. blue for the same reason as red, the emergency thing...

Yea i have the white ones, i got pulled over for a loud muffler and he said they were also illegal cause they have a blue tint to them. But i argued and showed him i had already got a speeding ticket that day and he let me go.

Or better yet just take them off and leave them off...

Yeah, I'm with you on that one...

flyry110 Dec 22, 2001 09:20 PM

i like mine :(

nubiannupe Dec 23, 2001 05:52 AM

"leave 'em on" "take 'em off" There's been so many posts about this subject over the past few months, it ain't funny!!:D

I say use your own judgement. Because I've seen some foglights (and I'm not talking about the "brighter than the sun" ones) that are packaged with the 'offroad use only' thing.

Just my $0.02 worth!!

RE:

my apc hyper whites said that and i have never gotten pulled over for them. Hell i pulled over a cop with them once:laugh: .I dont see why they would be a problem. i asked a cop about a week ago about neons and blue lights where the corner lights are and he said just leave the corner lights and tailligghts alone to be safe, and that all neons interior and exterior are legal except the liscence plate neons. I will have to ask him again about the washer lights and see what he thinks. Hell last night i was doing 55 in a 35 coming home and a cop went right past me on a curve and he hit his lights and brakes and i floored it and pulled in my apt. and avoided the ticket! knock on wood!!!!

nubiannupe Dec 23, 2001 10:16 AM

Sounds like you were a lucky @$$!!! Yeah, I've had my hyper whites in since April, with nothing other than people asking me how'd I put those lights in my washers.:D this is where I insert my shameless Maxima.org plug!!

Re: washer led's question

in most states it falls under auxilary lighting (so do fogs/driving lights). in most states it is illegal to have this kind of lighting on. in many cases you techinally are not allowed to drive with fog lights on if it is not inclement weather. driving lights are supposed to be used to only when you are using your high beams.

ngthing Dec 23, 2001 07:15 PM

blue, red, and green are restricted colors.

red can only be displayed on your rear taillampsto alert drivers of stopping intentions.

noleafclover Dec 23, 2001 08:29 PM

i'd say your best bet is to ask someone who would know in your city. i don't even know if the best way would be a cop, but i'd assume they'd know. it's not the same everywhere, but i'm pretty sure red would be illegal anywhere and white might be legal most places.
