What did I do wrong?

Like a dumd *** I cut the factory wire harness on the radio in order too install my aftermarket radio it works some what but with problems. The problems are my dimmer for the gauges don't work , the radio doesn't keep memory, and the factory alarm does work anymore. I went to a junk yard and cut a Bose harness off and splice it back together. Then I bought a walmart a harness kit for my car but it still has all the problem. Does any of these problem have to do with me cutting the harness?

If your dimmer doesn't work, you either miswired the illumination wire so that the entire circuit is now at full voltage. Find the red and yellow wire and snip it where you spliced, see what happens.

My guess is you swapped illumination and constant wires when installing the replacement connector. It would explain both why the HU doesn't retain memory and why the dimmer doesn't work. Especially if you live in Canada and have DRL. Otherwise, the HU would only turn on with the lights.

What Hectic said. it's a common problem for people that cut into their harnesses. The lazy way out is to buy an adapter harness for $10 that you just plug into the factory harness. makes a radio swap take 15 minutes.

Other problem I'm having also is when the key is out and I open the door the seat belt doesn't move forward for an easy exit out the car. I would have to put the key to the on position in order for the seat belt to move forward.

cant be a fusable link since the only fuseable links are in the engine bay and fuses only the alternator and most of the electrical in the car so if one goes out the most of the stuff wont work...
