What's this?
 
Can anyone identify this part for me, so I can order a new one? It's the hose in the picture that is all wet (with fuel).

Also, I need to know where I can order a new ECU control relay (green one next to the fusible links in the engine compartment, and 30A alternator fusible link (green one).

That hose goes to the heater control valve located on the firewall. But are you sure it is acutally soaked in fuel? If so, you gotta replace the fuel hose on the rail below the pictured hose before it ignites. You can even see that hose is wet with fuel on the bottom right corner of the pic.

EDIT: Did you soak it in fuel so that you can find a vacuum leak? In that case, it's just a regular vacuum hose that you can easily get at a parts store.

And for the relay, you can try to get one at a pick-a-part. If not, then worst case scenario would be the dealer.

OK,
the problem I have had is that the car will not start. I was driving one night, and it just quit. No warning, other than a no start condition about 1 or two months prior.

Now, it will not do anything when I try to start it. All I can hear is the relay inside the dash clicking.

I have replaced the ECU control relay, the ECU fusible link, and the starter, to no avail. I have checked the fusible link on the positive battery connector, and it still has continuity.

What else can I check? I'm stumped.

Oh, and I double checked that hose today (after letting the car sit all week)- it DEFINITELY has fuel in it and it has split.

I checked my shift bushing, and it seems to be ok. Does anyone know if the z32 shift bushings will fit? The pic I saw on this forum looked like the bronze shifter bushings I bought from SPL Parts for my Z.

Obviously replace that hose A.S.A.P. As for the bushing I would Go with the one for the car. As for the not starting check for vac leaks. Enough un-metered air can screw with the engine enough not to start. After that remember it needs Air/Fuel/Spark to run. Narrow it down to which one you lack/have excess of and you find your culprit.

yeah, but the starter is not even turning, so air/fuel ratio has no impact at this point. Anyone know how common it is for the p/n safety switch to fail? Is there a way to bypass it, to isolate the problem?

Any other common problems I should look for?

So it was fine but sporadically acted up until now. You said you changed the starter. Yeah if this were my situation I would verify that all my relays are good along with fuses. Once I know the electronic end is good I'd move to the mechanics. One person had a similar issue a week or two ago. They mentioned how they swapped out the starter 2x. Turns out the 3rd one finally did the charm so far. Try swapping it one more time and see what happens. If that works then something is causing premature failure to your starter. You then seek out your culprit.

Changing the starter did nothing at all. I went ahead and changed it based on the intermittent failure I had prior to total failure.

A common issue with this car not starting is that a bushing in the shift level located above the catalytic converter breaks down due to heat and age so it won't fully shift the transmission in Park or Neutral. What you can do is shift the trans to Neutral and try to start it while moving the shifter up and down within Neutral.

EDIT: Just saw post #4 about the shifter busing... As suggested, the replacement starter may habe been DOA. Happened a couple of times with my brother's car.
