What triggers the cont starter relay next to the battery?
Im working on a 1992 GXE and it sat for a while but now it wont start. It will turn over just fine but not fire up. If I remove the green starter relay from the fuse block next to the battery and jumpper a wire accross it it will start. Where does this relay get its signal from to connect? Any help would be great.
BTW I did replace the relay with a brand new one so I know its good.

That's actually not a "starter" relay. It switches power to some ECU pins and other crap. The coil is grounded by the ECU. If the car starts and runs fine when you jump the connector, it means either the relay is bad, or it's not receiving the ground signal from the ECU. The coil receives 12v from the same source it switches, so I doubt the coil is lacking the +12v, more likely it's not getting the ground signal. Grab a multimeter and make sure.

Relay gremlin-security system?
I thought I had a bad relay there as well but I did not. The relay coil gets energized to ground thru the "security system" which disables starting of the car. Replaced that relay and no difference. Jumpered out the contact in the start circuit and that would work-sometime. Also found the coil wire that went to the security system to get grounded and I grounded that wire to energize the relay, but again, that had mixed results. I am starting a new thread about my problem.
