check your fuel lines, ones probably leaking
|
These cars are known for leaky injectors and rails. There was a safety recall once upon a time, but was later resolved. Not sure the recall affects you, but worth checking with the dealership. They will run your vin and see if there are any active recalls.
Fuel line itself (actually, there are two that run side by side) runs from the drivers side of the engine near the rear valve cover, and back toward the fire wall. |
Its running rich bro check spark plugs wires cap and rotor

Thanks for yalls replys someone told me that maybe the stock feul pressure regulator may be no good anyone have answers to maybe it true or not
|
In my experience, they tend to fail open (low/no pressure) not fail closed (increased pressure).

if you need answers within 7 minutes bring it to shop that knows what they are doing. As for the OP, there are a series of things that could be possibly wrong and you have failed to provide sufficient detail to be demanding a precise answer. I mean... does it LITERALLY smell like fuel INSIDE where you put the oil in??? Why don't YOU tell us how the car is running? Is it making any noises? Smoking from anywhere? does it still smell like fuel after the car is warmed up? you know... something along those lines with some background info.. You username leads us to believe you own a 1991 Maxima which is a VG30e equipped vehicle, can you confirm that IS what you are asking about? |
 exactly. i think people are forgetting that youre getting free answers and help here, theres sites that you can pay for to get answers within 15 minutes

I am ordering a fuel pressure regulator for mine. On its way out was like a progression. Engine was running richer and richer. At 1st I thought I bought some bad fuel. Changed it out same problem. Checked my injection pulse from the ECU with a light on one of the injector wires and it was very dim. Thought I had a really lean issue going on from the ECU but my engine was overloading with fuel. After that I checked the ECU lights it was showing RED much of the time telling me it was rich. Glowing red then after several REVS of the engine changed to green & red, then after that if I let it idle at some point would revert back to red. My O2 senor was reading the extra fuel and doing its job trying to lean the mixture. So I cut the elbow off the top of the regulator and threaded a woodscrew down and tighten it down some and put pressure helping close the valve some in the regulator and the engine responded running better but by doing that effects the return line some because the fuel pumps tone would change to a higher pitch. Night and day difference. You can also put compressed air in there but I didn't have anything like that to use. I think after time getting hot and cold over the years weakens the spring tension in the regulator. Ran like a carbureted engine that's float is stuck open an overloading. You can REV it out but only lasts but so long. That extra un burnt fuel makes its way into the crankcase, plus it produces a lot of vapor.
