Bogging Maxima

Hello guys, i知 new to this form and i bought a 1992 nissan maxima se with 70k miles recently. i changed out all the fluids since the previous owner said it had been sitting for a couple years before hand(since 2017). It has the clacking noise that is notorious in these maximas, but my issue isn稚 that. My maxima hot or cold will struggle to idle. It値l go from 1000 rpm and bog down to around 500 while in park, if i have it in drive it値l do the same thing but once i hit the gas it値l struggle to go and bog down while on the gas. it happens worse when it is in drive, so bad to the point where it will shut off. Any ideas on what the issue may be? Anything helps!

VE30DE issue - hesitation - Maxima Forums

This thread is worth a read even though it wasn't bogging cold, I would check coilpacks/wiring and knock sensors and wiring

This sounds alot like what I was experiencing a little over a decade ago on my 3rd gen. What ended up fixing my issue was the catalytic converter. Before that I replaced the regular maintenance parts: spark plugs, cap and rotor, fuel filter and intake filter. I know I have a GXE but and your issue is with a VE but doesn't hurt to check you cat. conv. to see if its falling apart internally to the point where it is clogged. I even went as far as replacing my MAF as well and nothing. So double check that cat. conv.

Don't think Cat converter. Cat Converter will typically be an issue after it warms up. Is it idling rough? then check Electrical ( spark plugs, rotor, Dist, Cap) if not the problem is elsewhere. Recently had a problem with my 1990 SE 180k miles and after replacing just about everything ( Cat Converter, MAF ,TPS,Fuel Injectors, Spark Plugs) found out extreme corrosion inside gas tanks, enough to clog the Fuel Filter inside the Gas Tank. Remove the Fuel Filter located in the Engine compartment and see if the gasoline is clean or rusty. If is is then suspect a dirty oil tank. The access to the fuel pump is underneath the rear seat. RockAuto sell a very good compatible Fuel Pump and filter that drops right in. GOOD LUCK.

I don't disagree with you on this but you also made a good point on fuel delivery. Forgot about that one as well, hence why I also mentioned I replaced fuel filter when I was having a similar issue like the OP is experiencing. Cat. Conv. will typically cause a concern after warm-up phase but again doesn't hurt to check either. To the OP, check your fuel delivery, like what joe3931 advised. Let us know what you find.

Update

So I replaced a vaccum line to the EGR valve and it seems to run better but now when I've been driving for a while it will start to surge, then lose all power and go back to surging. If I shut it off and turn it back on it fixes it for awhile, but it will come back. I replaced a couple more vaccum lines while I was there, I also did spark plugs and gapped them to .40 and I replaced the fuel filter and the gas that came out of it was brown and disgusting.
