What year is my maxima?

I always thought I had a 94 GXE but my registration says I have a 93. I assumed that 93 was when it was built. Is there an obvious way to tell the difference?

what gave you the thought that it was a 94?

there should be a way to research your vin number...check that out

ok, now call the nissan dealer, and they should have a list of vin # related to all of their vehicles.

insurance or reg. if forget which, go by what year you told them

but try that.

Free online VIN checker:

http://www.analogx.com/contents/vinview.htm

I haven't tried it, but some people on the Acura-TL forum say it works.

thanks!
I just checked and its a 94. Maybe my Dad convinced the town clerk that it was a 93 so registration fees would be less.

youd better get that fixed

a cop may give you a hard time if your reg isnt correct, he may think its fake.

well if your insurance and reg. contradict and he looks at both you may have a problem. it probably happens often though. and no, i don't think there are any actual differences though in the years.

there wouldn't be any problem as long as the vin numbers match.

it's like if i repainted my black car to white..i wouldn't expect to have any problems because the papers say black..long as the vin's match.

but you should clear it up.

when he looks at your reg and it says 93 and your insurance says 94 and you can get a ticket, my dad bought a truck and the reg said blue but it haqd been repainted white and he didnt have the reg changed so

I have never been asked for proof of insurance. I've only been pulled over in NH, MA, and FL. I guess if I got in an accident, there might be an issue. Next time I register the car I will have them change it. The title says something like "Date of Production: 1993". Maybe when I first took the title in to get the car registered the clerk assumed this was the model year.

It's very common to have the production date different than the actual model of the car. My 99 was produced in 98 and my 91 was produced in 90.

I didnt know that about NH. So you dont have sales tax and dont need Insurance? You cant register your car in MA without Insurance. But they dont ask for Insurance when they pull you over.
