hey, all i got to say is don't get the LED's that look like normal bulbs. where the tip is domed. i go those and they look cool but they shine straight, i can't see the needles at night. i bought them off ebay, and they said they were Japan LED's. i'd either get the ones with 4 lights in one, or the autodynamic ones where they dish inwards.

I have a pair of LED's that dish inwards, but I was afraid to use them in the gauges because I thought they would shine straight, but now Im gonna rip apart my dash tonight and change them :D

true. I think its something like 5 watts (168) compared to 3.8 (194) or something.

disgookonfiya May 5, 2002 03:47 PM

hey, if u don't trust ebay or dopn't feel like going through the hassel of waiting for an auction to end, go to www.autodynamic.com . they have 194 leds there.

Let me guess.....

You can only do that with SE gauges, right? I took my GXE gauges apart to see if I could mod them somehow, but I don't think I can.

gxe gauges run the same bulbs as se gauges. i would think that the setup is exactly the same on both.

buy white gauges ;)

Mike S. May 5, 2002 10:22 PM

The problem with GXE guages is that not only is the bulb covered in a green condom(can be removed) the actual gauage face backside is green. So you can put a red, blue, white bulb in there and they still have to pass though a green filter.

DanNY for the love of god....amigo to amigo....what setup are you running? I've got 89-91se guages in now and my 93 yellowly white bulbs are killing me. Are yours 194 or 168 Leds. A link or exact product would be much apreciated.

Thanks,
Mike S.

matt1sd May 5, 2002 10:38 PM

arent 194 led's the same as 168's? cuz i see them on ebay as "194/168 led's".

KCMax May 6, 2002 09:22 AM

GXE gauges

They can't be white b/c of that green filter on there, so, what colors can you mix green with to make another color that would look cool on my dash.
Also, if I buy the SE gauges from a junk yard, do you guys just replace the whole insterment pannel and all or do you just replace the paper/plastic gauge readout?

they are still the same. (but the wattage thing applies to the bulbs, I don't know about the led's) but people on ebay put both so that if you search for either 194 or 168, you'll find their auctions. you know, like how they put "XENON HID HEADLIGHTS NISSAN HONDA ACURA" whatever.

Re: Re: Re: Let me guess.....

You can always go with the indoglo gague faces.White in the day, indiglo at night. There's almost always a set of 2 color gague faces on eBay for both the SE and the GXE. they usually go for about 70 buck i think.

oh yeah, just to add- whats the point of spending $70+ when you can spend $20 max and make your gauges look better than indiglos...
