Is there any diferance between the two? I have a 93 GXE and I want the ride to be more stiff, so can I put SE struts on there? Would I have to replace the whole strut in the rear to make the rears more stiff or would I just have to replace the cartridge? Thanks in advance for any and all info!

KYB only has one part number for both Maximas. The rear end uses a cartridge for both model cars, and KYB lists a singe part number for both. BTW, my experience is that the front struts go way before the rears, and you might get away changing only the fronts. On these cars the fronts are easier to change.

If your thinking of getting an used set of SE struts and putting them on your max, forget it. By now all stock 3-gen struts are probably worn to hell. KYB, Tokico and Koni all have the same p/n for all 3-gens regardless of model(electronic shocks included but 2x check).

I wasn't going to buy used struts, that's wasted $$. Will the ride be more stiff with the KYB's? I plan on replacing all of them at once, might as well get it over with and be broke already! I think I'll buy them through Courtesy Nissan, but after you pay S&H they might be cheaper somewhere else. What do you guys think?

I didn't know Courtesy sold KYBs. If you just go w/ shocks and stock springs, KYB is the way to go. You can try http://www.shox.com or carparts.com(but buyer beware)

Althought it was for my Camry, I found that tirerack seems to have the best price for struts (at least KYBs). May want to check them out. The struts on my Max are pretty worn now, so I'll have to do it soon as well.

ok so you say kyb is the best with stock springs, what about with intrax 1.75's? I was planning on getting kyb's with those. any objections?
