transmission and clutch issues???
My clutch went out and was slipping all along because tranny fluid leaked all over the clutch plate now they want 900 dollars labor and parts for the new installed clutch and repaired tranny?? Is it worth it to fix my 89 maxima 5 speed for 900 dollars with 151,000 miles on it?
any advice would be great
thanks,
Andrew

I would spend 900 on a car if there isnt any other problems with it because you cant get another decent car for 900+whatever you could get out of a non running car.
weigh all of the things I mentioned and then decide what you want to do.
Good luck,

Re: transmission and clutch issues???
I would shop around. A lot of shops mark up the cost of parts, therefore, my recommendation is to buy a clutch kit from Courtesy or some other dealer. Also pick up the tranny parts and a back side crank seal, which is an extra 10 minute job if they are already doing the clutch.
To give you an idea, I picked up a clutch kit from Nissan for $191 w/ tax and installed it for $200. Also had the tranny gears and bearings replaced for an extra $50 in labor. My point is to shop around. BTW, all work was performed at an import shop, not a Nissan dealer.
