Any CAI that doesn't require drilling holes

Hello:

I was wondering if there is any CAI kit out there that doesn't require drilling a hole in the frame?
I was thinking the following:

Why not have a mandrel bent tube and come from the throttle body straight toward the front of the engine bay (would require moving the relative position of the MAF) on the side of the battery opposite the left fender and then go into that little air compartment that is already used by the OEM air intake. And throw on some thermal insulation wrap on the tube for good measure.

what do you all think about such an idea? Or did somebody already make something like that?

later...

Any CAI that doesn't require drilling holes...

...Isn't a real CAI. The whole meaning of a Cold air intake is getting air from OUTSIDE the engine bay.

Yes, the idea you are thinking of has been done. His name was Yo_Its_ok and he was banned. Then he signed up as Chimp DJ and got banned again. Injen has come out with an intake similer to what your describing. Check out their website for more info.

tubing is long :) annoying... cutting a hole is no big deal

I'll have to look at my car when i see it again... it should work i guess :gotme: care to go do one and show us? ;)

:o)

What I was thinking is have a pop-charger style intake with a custom made heat shield around it and a tub coming from underneith the car going to the air filter. That is what I plan for my SC. I already bought the materials from Home Depot, I just have to do it already! What do you guys think? Cold Air/ no hot air (hopefully). Short intake tube. No hole cut.
