gonna ditch those Altezzas
Can't believe I'm actually saying it, after all that work... I was really starting to like these customized Altezzas.
Get this: I open my trunk the other day, and all of the suddenly there's a gush of water coming from the lid. Like, what the hell? The water was coming from... THE TAILLIGHT. The lid mounted taillight was apparently filled with water.
I couldn't believe it. Well, upon closer inspection, I figured it out. These cheap @#$%! lights. The intense heat we've been having lately MELTED the innards. Not terribly, but just enough to cause a separation for water to leak in. Then with the recent storm, the damned light filled up.
As a last resort I'm going to see if I can caulk these things. Otherwise, that's it... I'm back to OEM. Then to try hunting down some clears I can make clear/red. I'm not taking a chance on cheap lights ever again (I doubt those "G3" ones out now are any better).

Yup. I always questioned the thinking of the guys who would spend good money on a product that was inferior in quality than the oem piece. My oem Y pipe was perfect at over 100,000 miles but I've gone though 2 flex sections on my aftermarket Y. But at least there was some performance benefit.

I know... good thing we didn't waste time trying to paint 'em, eh?
I heard that somewhere a production quality clear/red taillight is availble for the Maxima so I'm going to begin the hunt. Something about all that dull amber in the rear just doesn't appeal to me. But if the quality isn't there, I'm back to OEM.
I agree with Albert... I will yank those Altezzas out eventually (unless a miracle happens). Just feel really duped; the time spent working on them far exceeded the cost of the parts. Learned my lesson... "Cheap is expensive!"

What's the difference between sex for free and paying for sex?
Sex for free is more expensive.
Glad you're ditching the Altezza's BTW.
