Who's running Greddy EVO on 1999 SE?!

I don't know anyone else other than KrZyMaX that is running the Greddy EVO cat-back on a 1999 Maxima SE.
The Greddy SP is on back-order for the next 2 months. EVO's are in stock, however, I want to make 100% sure that it will fit my car (like a glove) before I place the order.

Thank you guys...

krzymax Aug 8, 2002 12:37 PM

i don't believe there are many others who have the EVO on the 99 SE. maybe it's because many do not know that the EVO fits on the 99. my exhaust fits perfectly fine. there was no problem whatsoever.

Cumalot Aug 8, 2002 12:43 PM

If only the EVO fits on a '96 too. :(

According to Nissan dealer, the exhaust is different from cars built after 6/97 through 08/01.

Mmmaxx Aug 11, 2002 09:23 AM

2 MONTHS??!?!?!? WTF! I ordered mine about a week an a half ago and they said just 3 days ago it was on back order for 1-2 weeks..it better not be 2 months now or im going to be kicken some serious ***..it most likely depends on where your getting it from mine is coming from the biggest greddy distributor in NE so they say they will be the first to get 1. I hope they are right :)

NAS Aug 11, 2002 11:52 AM

well if the EVO fits a 99 would it fit my 98 se 5spd as well? I really dont know what the best exhaust would be to get and the EVO seems to be the best bet so far, that is if it would fit..

Michael HKS makes a dunk exhaust just like the EVO that will fit a 95-96 maximas only!!!this one might fit the only thing different is that these exhausts are a bit longer so it will stick out just a little like my exhaust did becuase the way the bumper sits. But I think you have a 97plus bumper.

KrZyMaX where is your o2 sensor located on the catback pipe of your car? that would be the only difference right there in my opinion.
I know the 2k Greddy exhausts if you have your o2 sensor on the catback pipe youll need to get them to drill a hole and the little thread to install the o2 sensor, but if your o2 sensor is on your cat then it will be a straight bolt on!!!nothing to worry about. Robvandam has a 2k1 and he had to get the shop to drill the o2 sensor hole for him.

Tell you what...
I went ahead and ordered the EVO. I sincerely hope that it turns out nice like it did for KrZyMaX.
I've confirmed this with Nissan Dealer. 1997 through 1999 Maxima's have identical cat-back systems. If it fits mine & KrZyMaX's car, it will fit your '98 as well.

Hey Jamie, I can probably speak for the SE-L.
I do NOT have O2 sensor on the catalytic converter.
I DO have the sensor on the B-pipe, right after the cat. There seems to be a seperate adaptor/connector fitting that basically houses the O2 sensor. So I guess, WORSE case scenario, I'll have to drill a hole on my EVO...Alternatively, I can just leave out the O2 sensor. Wonder if that will trigger a MIL/CEL?!?!

You can have a shop install it for you and they could that therefor your CEL doesnt come on! thats what this kid did out here Robvandam thats his name he just got it 2 weeks ago and he told me about it.

SO what do I have the install shop do? Drill the hole for the O2 sensor or zip tie the sensor to something... I dunno!

krzymax Aug 11, 2002 05:51 PM

ironically, my GReddy EVO was a direct bolt on. there are no O2 sensors anywhere on the catback.

Theyll make a hole for the o2 sensor and they weld this thing that has threads on it for your o2 sensor to just bolt right on

DARTHSWAN Aug 11, 2002 08:34 PM

where are you all ordering your EVOs from?

I thought the '99 SE-L was different from the '99 SE.

We know for a fact about cosmetic differences. However, the exhaust is identical on 1997 through 1999 Maxima (all). This has been confirmed by the Nissan Parts department! The only additional thing that the SE-L owners have to buy is an adaptor/connector between the cat & the intermediate pipe. I believe this is for the O2 sensor.

Greddy EVO for 4th gen?...maybe...

I posted this on another thread, but figure, this would be a more appropriate place for it:
--------------------------------
Okay! If we can figure this out, my major frustration will get resolved.
Just downloaded Stillen's instructions for their B-pipe (a.k.a. Intermediate Pipe). See pic below:
http://home.attbi.com/~dashingMax/im...len_B-pipe.jpg
Cat-back consists of the B-pipe (1 or 2 piece) and the Muffler. If a Muffler doesn't bolt right up, it can always be welded on. However, if you are buying a cat-back system, the muffler should bolt on to the B-pipe.
Some Facts:
**Okay, according to Greddy, their EVO cat-back will fit "1999 GLE and up".
**According to the vendor, the EVO should fit "1997 Maxima (all) and up".
**We know for a fact that KrZyMaX is running the EVO on his 1999 SE-L. It fit him just fine.
**Stillen makes the same exact part (B-pipe) for 1999-2000 & up Maxima.
**Several peeps running EVO on their 5th gen.
Deduction/Inference
The Greddy EVO cat-back exhaust will fit 1999 Maxima (all) without any problems!
True? or False?

Anyone???

Bobby I called Greddy for all you guys, I asked can I bolt the new EVO to my 1998 Max he said it will bolt right on. Once again my car has the O2 sensor hole already on the Greddy catback pipe!!!the new ones does not.:)

Thanks for clarifying. For some reason I thought the SE-L exhaust was different from the regular SE.

I have a 98 GLE Maxima
do I have to drill holes for O2 sensor??

AltiMAX Aug 13, 2002 05:22 AM

From what I've gathered from reading this thread you'll only need to drill a hole for the O2 sensor if your current B-pipe has the sensor on it. If the catalytic converter itself has the sensor then you won't need to drill

Nick97SE Aug 13, 2002 06:39 AM

So will the EVO fit a '97 as well?

Thanks,

purmax Aug 13, 2002 06:57 AM

so which greddy fits the 95/96?
SP?

Based on our deductions, yes it will. I have ordered the EVO & will try & get it installed on my 1999. I post on here any fitment issues, if any, that I may encounter.
Worse case scenario, we have need to drill a hole on the mid-pipe and that is it... Myself being an SE-L, most definitely will have to drill a hole...
If it fits my car like a glove, then ALL you 1997-1999 Maxima's can rejoice, for the Greddy EVO will fit your cars! We'll find out soon...

Same here. I like how the EVO looks compared to the SP. Although I might just keep the SP b-pipe and switch out my muffler.

Sexima Aug 14, 2002 10:58 AM

which exhaust REALLY gives off performence?

Performance is the same. The EVO looks better & is supposedly quieter than the SP. Everything else should be the same.
