Suspention question...yes I've searched
OK I've read almost every damn post on suspention questions. I know these questions have been asked a million times. I just want some opinions from people who have had multiple setups. I'm looking for a 1.5-1.8ish drop. I want to stay as close to a stock feel as possible. I am NOT looking for a stiff performance setup. I'm just doing the drop for the looks. Now based on what I've read, AGX and a coilover is not the way for me to go. Any recommendations are welcome. Thanks

H&R's aren't very low though.

I'm not looking to go ultra low. I dont really even want a "lowered" look...I just want it to look like a regular car should :D Oh and a side note I forgot, I'm putting 18's on it. I think Tokico blue and H&R's will be an OK drop for me...any other opinions welcome

Stay away from Tokico Blues. There great with OEM springs, but they just can't handle any kind of drop.
I took Tok's out of AnGe's car this weekend. One side was only 1.5 years old and they were coupled with H&R's. Both front Tokicos were soft. No leakage, but you could easily feel their life was shortened. |

Originally posted by shaz OK so say I want to use H&R's or maybe B+G's, but not with KYB-AGX (and ruling out Tokico's for being to soft)...what other strut could I use?? shaz |

Originally posted by shaz yeah I guess I could do that... shaz i have H&Rs with KYB GR-2's. EXCELLENT ride. handling is great (at least as good as i care to have it after changing from stock). price is decent, but definatly a great combination with these springs. Hall |
just remember... you can't go low and have a soft ride... the lower you go - the stiffer it gets. It's not really like you get to pick low and soft or high and really firm. Be sure you get a progressive style of spring because they will be the closest to what you want. They start off soft for normal driving, but when you push the car they react stiffer as more coils become compressed.

Spring: H&R
Shocks: AGX You can go with GR-2s but they are more of a stock replacement, and nobody is really sure if they'll hold up with a lowering spring in the long run. Lower springs put more stress on the shocks, so that's why a performance shock is a better choice. |
fyi...tokico also now offer adjustable shocks for the maxima, called ilumina's or something to that effect. I don't think anyone has tried them here though.
