Installation for KYG/AGX's
 

Peace to all on 9-11! Can someone please help me with the installation of my new rear shocks and Max Speed springs. The shocks are the adjustable type. I have already did a search @ the top of my screen and none of the topics were helpful...please do not move Moderator's!! Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Take them out of the car, disassemble, replace stock spring with Maxspeed, replace stock shock with AGX, reassemble in the reverse order you took it apart and put it back on the car.

Pretty simple.

If you want more detail, ask a more detailed question. You said you need help but didn't tell us on what?

TIP - You don't need a spring compressor on the rear spring/shock assembly in the SE model. There isn't that much preload on them at all.

Did I not say installation of my new shock and spring...maybe I need some glasses!!

Removing it from your car?

Disassembly?

Replacement parts?

Torque values?

Spring isolators?

Spring orientation?

Shock bushings?

Dust covers?

Gaskets?

Or a thorough explanation of how the entire process is done?

i'm bout to do a H&R and agx install...and i know u know ur stuff bout suspension....well i have a question...is there such thing as too much spiral wrap? i put the spiral wrap on the H&Rs but i didn't know how much space to put between them...so they're kinda bunched up and close together..u think thats ok?

Yes, I think your fine.

My theory with isolating coils is this as follows:

The top most coil sits in the rubber spring perch, no isolation needed. The next coil down from that one I use an isolator on. That isolates the 2nd coil from the top one and the 3rd one down. Thats it for the top.

On the bottom of the spring I only use an isolator on the last coil to isolate it from the strut and the coil above it.

So far with all the installs I've done, that method seems to produce quiet rides. I do like to use the Nissan Poly Isolators, they seem to last longer then the Radio Shack Wire Wrap. Look through the FAQ's, I have a post in there with a specific Nissan P/N for the front isolator I like to use.

I would also like to thank you...I successfully installed my shock and springs and it cost me no labour da## I'am getting better @ this mod stuff...it really feels good to be able to install parts that you would nomally take to the shop to have them do and pay big dollars to have it done!!! How do you get the rear bottom shock bolt out? It seems to be surrounded by metal pieces of the body. How do you get the bottom shock bolt out?
