Throttle response problem

I have a 96 auto max with 80k on it. Bone stock. Right when i start the car up in the morning, with the choke on, the car drives great with instant throttle response. But after it warms up, the throttle response is terrible. I can almost floor it and nothing really happens until i completely floor it. Its like if i dont floor it, it doesnt go anywhere. Is this normal? If not, what's wrong with it? PS. I already tightned the throttle cable in the hood, didnt do anything.

1) Check ECU for codes, your knock sensor may be bad.
2) What maintenance has been done to the car?
3) Clean your throttle body - www.motorvate.ca
4) Hopefully you've got NGK platinum plugs in there, not Bosch.
5) Have your catalitic converter checked, it may be clogged, do you ever get a rotten egg smell?

Did you replace your knock sensor yet?

So it isnt normal for there to be a noticable difference in choke-on and choke-off? Also, my mechanic is giving me a free diagnosis to make sure i really need a knock sensor and not just wasting money. I am bringing it to him monday.

How about your throttle sensor? Is it positioned correctly?

You know, sometimes the Automatics like to be in high gear at very low speeds. This can give you a similar sensation. I mean figure you are going 20 mph and you are in 3rd gear. This would make your car slow as hell unless you give it some significant throttle at which point it will down shift and then speed up like its suppose to. I guess this saves you gas, but for our type of driving its horrible. Hopefully your mechanic will reveal to you what is wrong if anything. Good luck to you.
