Just installed 225/50-16 Yokohama AVS ES100's

So far I am very happy with this choice. They are on stock '99 alloys. They look / fit great. I have not pushed them in any turns yet (too new), but on hard acceleration, they grip like mad. So much better then the OEM Toyos. These tires are a steal at $78.00. Plus you get a free R/C car.

Are these all-season or straight performance tire? Where did you get them for $78 each. I want an R/C CAR!!!!

They are high performance tires. I've been told an all season tire is mediocre(sp.) in most environments. For the few days a year we get snow, I'll take my wifes Pathfinder.
Tire Rack has a deal going on with these (new release tire). It also includes a nice radio controlled car, my boy will love it.

Don't worry about the R/C car. It's just a cheap newbie car. If you want one, get a full kit. :) http://www.hpiracing.com

What is the width of your rims?
Any thoughts about them on the wet?

I like your wheel/tire combo. Are they 16s? What made you go with that versus larger?

Thanks for the compliment. Yes they are 16s. I bought my Max 2nd-hand 2nd-hand. It came with oem Toyo A02s with only 2mm of tread-depth. I scooped some Toyo FZ4s as replacements. I would've loved 17's but the bills that come with 2 kids & house don't quite allow for that on my salary. :(

Mind you, I'm doing "advanced research" on replacement tires & thinking about higher performance tires. On the shortlist are:
- Dunlop FM901
- Kumho 712
- Yoko A520
- Yoko AVS ES100

I welcome any thoughts you may have on those! :)

I'll be moving up to 225/50/16.

Oh, cool. So you get the car with the Enkeis already?

Not looking at Bridgestone? The Potenza RE730 is a great tire, and pretty cheap if you have a Costco nearby.

Ooops, missed on that detail....short answer is "no".

Here's the order of events (long version!):
- new FZ4s went on oem SE rims
- I wanted winter tires to deal with Toronto's ice/snow. I planned for a set of new winter tires (Nokian NRWs) to go on oem rims
- bought Enkei's & wrapped them w/ FZ4s.
- bought NRWs which went on oem rims. et voila!

Thx for your recommendation on RE730s. :)

The stock '99 alloys are 6 1/2 inches wide. It has not rained yet, but I have heard good reviews about wet weather traction.

I got my Kumho's in 225/50/16 last october, my next tire will be the Yok AVS ES100
