Better performing wiper blades?
 

What do you other 4th gen owners recommend?

I'd like to spend a couple bucks and put on a set of wiper blades whose performance I'll really be impressed with. Given that fall is upon us, winter is damp, and spring is next, now is the right time.

I really appreciated any recommendations you can make for me.

Those Bosch Microblade or something like that works perfectly well. Oh, if you apply some Rain-X on your windshield, I don't think you will need your wiper blades when it's raining (assuming you are driving 45 + mph).

yeah i got rainex and rainex blades. its luv. u should check out the setup, like $9 for each blade.....

I've actually found the OEM blades last the longest and work just as good as any other blade out there. They fit perfect too!

Anco Aerovantage. About $5 a blade if remember correctly. The cheaper Ancos are good too. I have used Bosch Micro Edge Excels in the past and I found them to be not worth the money.

Mine make this nasty and loud screeching noise, what could that be due to?

The noise is there even there when it's raining.

I've heard that Bosch makes excellent wiper blades with silicone in the blades. Using Rain X doesn't hurt either.

I dont know if they are made for our car, but I was reading in a mag about PIAA wipers. These things are pretty high tech, anyone know if these are good?

I have run Triple Edge wipers on my last 3 vehicles. The kicker? Same set on all 3. I bought them fo rmy Cherokee, then bough 2 newer cherokees and transferred them each time. I actually had to return them and get them replaced once, but they have a lifetime warrany if you keep the reciept and UPC code, so while I PAID for one set, I have really had 2 sets.

This was the first thing I added to my Max when I bought it.

I ended up buying Bosch Excel Microedge blades, and added some Rain-X to the mix. Hope it all works out.

Perhaps you want to maintain them too..

Using the Rain-X...apply it to the cloth, and make sure the glass is clean before you start wiping the glass with the rain-x cloth. Afterwards, let the Rain-X sit for a minute or two, and start wiping the glass again to remove the haze on the glass. Make sure there is no haze left.

For wipers, make sure that the section of the glass where the wipers reside are clean before you activate the wiper. Usually, there are debris/dust in there so wipe them out every so often. Also, clean the wiper blade using a damp cloth. Please remember that your cloth will be black after you wipe them to your wipers. Some others use WD-40 to clean the edge of the blade....and actually this will work well.

You will see that even with Rain-X and thunderstorm ahead, you will see through your windshield clearly.

Heck, I even bring Rain-X whenever I rent a car for my jobs.

It means that the rubber is all dried out and they need to be replaced.

Really depends where you live. I used those Anco teflon blades before and I'm using Bosch now. Doesn't matter what the heck it is, and doesn't matter if you use Rain-X at all, here in the NW, it rains 8 months out of the year, you use it quite frequent. I have to change blades about 2x a year.

I just go down the road to National Liquidators and buy a whole new blade every 6 months. $3

For the screeching noise, I'd just need a new refill, not a replacement of the whole blade right?

Yes, I still have the same OEM blades, I just use the refills.

once i pay off the 3 grand i have on my credit card i'm goig to www.weathertech.com and getting myself those piaa blades and those weathertech rain guards for my windows...love to buy the toys!! maybein 2 months??

I don't see how there can be real differences between the blades. They all seem to wear out and need to be replaced. I know some are more expensive and some are cheaper. Can somebody show me some proof that more expensive blades will last longer?

I am going to go to Pepboys or Autozone and get some new ones..

I drive almost a 1,000 miles a week and hit a lot of rain.. my wiper blades suck and they smudge water all over and feel like they just pass over it instead of wiping it to the side... definately time to replace them..

They have a book that will tell you what size you are goning to need, one of the is 20 and the other 21, PepBoys just had the blades and not they refill for me it apparently had to be special orderd, so I went donw to walmart, and bought a universal length refil, cut it to size, and it works great.

PIaa super silicones very nice wipers and comes with its own winshield wipe like rain x the price is kindah steep can you say around$20 dollars a blade:eek:

Check and see if the rubber part is on all the way, it may have just
worked it's way out a little bit and one of the metal clips may be scratching the windshield.

Thanks for the idea but I looked at the refills, and they looked really white cracked and etc, so I put in new ones for $5 and it purrs away smoothly in the rain now.

I have the carbonfiber piaa wiper and blades and they work really well. but they cost a lot.

yeah, my local parts store had the book, but the wipers don't seem
right -- the passenger wiper doesn't "wipe" across its entire sweep...

make sense?
