is 95 max gxe auto w/ 8,000 miles for $10,000 a deal?
i have a 95 se 5spd already and know the car well. i want to know if buying this car that has only 8,000 miles would be exposed to problems that is due to its lack of use. please let me know what you think.
thanks |
8000 miles...seems fishy.
If somethin seems too good to be true, it probably is. |

Sounds like you are getting one hell of a deal, I would go for it. Nothing should be wrong with it unless he has never changed the oil.

It's not all that great a deal.
I bought my 98 GLE 77k miles for 10,000, and the same guy who I bought it from is selling 98 GXE and a GSE for 8k and 9k respectively with 60 some miles. But then again, cars in metro DC may just be chaeaper than where you are. http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/vi...e=maximumdeals Edit .... ooops, I read 80k miles, but 8k miles for a 95 is REALLY fishy. |

should anything be looked at specifically for a car that sat around like this?

It's worth thinking about. I bought my 1998 Se 5spd, with close to 30k for $12k. ( 3 months ago )

having a car running a few thousand miles ATLEAST can be important every year
chances are the guy may have changed the oil every 3ooo miles... so he's probably changed the oil no more than 3 times since the car was new- sounds good? well remember the oil is supposed to be changed every 3 months... the guys running like 2 year old oil in his car AC might have problems, who knows maybe there is a reason he never drove it... probably didnt like it too much and therefore didnt take really good care of it alot of electrical stuff will go bad if it isnt used for along time, and not having oil flow around in the engine often enough causes other problems unless the car is perfectly preserved (and hwo the hell will 'preserve' a '96 Maxima) If everything is in tip top shape... and the Nissan is a good car anyways you probably will be happy with it, but low miles is not always a good thing |
8,000 miles? why did he buy the car? collectors? :D
