let's say that I have a bad coil pack...

would my car run rich as a result?
would my fuel economy suck?

now lets just say you used the search function..

would you have posted?

would you have your answer?

Jamsan Oct 17, 2002 06:32 AM

you would more than likely have a CEL saying cylinder X misfire for each bad coil pack....

Mr Cranman Oct 17, 2002 07:13 AM

Plus the car would run like crap. That would probably be the main thing you would notice with a bad coil pack. ;)

bad fuel consumption without CEL is an indication of a dirty fuel filter..

well...start your car, throw it in reverse, slowly let your foot of the brake? is it jumpy like a mad man? same thing applies for the forward gears. Throw it in D, and take your foot off the brake. Is it jumping back and forth like a madman? thats how my car was on a bad coil pack....

well, start your car, and get under the hood, having someone with you so you can have a better opinion....start with the rear coils....unplug the rear left coil connecter, and see what happens....if nothing happens, and the car remains the same, there is something wrong with that coil...be it the connector, the actaul coil, etc....if the car gets worse, idle change, change in sound, nothing wrong with that pack....go on like this for all the packs, and notice any kind of change...of the car is the same after all the packs have been tested, well sh!t :o
