Help...Auto trans shifts hard into reverse
I've noticed intermittent hard shifting when putting my auto trans into reverse from either drive or park. The fluid level is fine, and a transmission cooler was put in about 3000 miles ago along with fresh fluid. I haven't really noticed a specific pattern of when it happens. The car has about 63K miles, and I do not drive it hard. Anybody has any ideas as to what is going on????
p.s. I do come to a complete stop when I shift into reverse from drive and vice versa.

Are you saying that it is hard to move the shifter into Reverse when you are in drive or park? If so, I remember my tranny having the same thing. I personally think it is the safety feature that is being accessed temporarily to ensure that the car is not moving in a gear at the time the shifter is being moved from P/D into reverse accidentily.

engine/transmission mounts?
Have you checked your engine transmission mounts? You can have someone put your car in drive and gently depress the accelerator while the brakes are on. This will cause the engine to move a bit and you can inspect the mounts for cracks.

I had that on both automatic maxes i owned..
shifter was hard to move as well as the actual shifting being hard..
Just wondering,
Those of you who experience this... do you park your car on any incline??
my driveway is sloped.. i started to think it was because of that, extra stress or something
