questions regarding kyb's

just a few questions....I just installed the front shocks and springs today (kyb agx's and progress springs). I don't have time right now to install the rear, I got work. first of all, according to maxima torque specs, the piston rod nut is supposed to be tightened to 43-58 ft-lbs, but they don't seem to tighten?? is that only for stock struts? my second question is whether or not there is need for alignment with 1.5" drop in the front.

Absolutely! Let all 4 springs settle for a few weeks then get your wheels aligned. I have the same spring/shock combo like you. I put off the alignment for 4 months partly b/c my car didn't pull to one side or the other & I had a hard time finding a shop that had an alignment machine that could mount onto my lipless rims. When I finally got around to doing the alignment, I found out that my left wheel had too much toe-in! The were no obvious signs of wear though.

You have to torque the piston rod nut once everythings on the car, or else it will spin, from what I remember... ;)
