HID'S pass inspection...or are illegal in any way...
 

Do hids pass inspection in NY, do you need to have highbeams ? Also is there any real illegal reason to not get them besides cops saying to blue or some b.s.

For your car to have HID legally you need to have highbeams of some sort and the HIDs have to be self leveling.

Just put in your stock bulbs, it takes about 5 mins to switch them out.

Most aftermarket HID's are not DOT approved.
One reason is that you'll loose your High Beams with the 9004 kit swap.

Now they have xenons in 9004 with high beam and low beam. But they would still be illegal because the bulbs are not self leveling. The only bulbs that I have seen which are self leveling and had high beams cost around $900. And they were sold in Europe.

Big Sun sells hi/lo kit for under $400 shipped. If my bank wasn't lagging, I probably woulda had them installed by now. But gimme a week and we'll see if my bank comes through.
I don't think they'll care about self leveling. Ask the 5th gen people if they know how their leveling is working and ask them how they test it.

yo i got my HID's of the 2002 maxima and i really dont get pulled over for them but i dont have a high beam. i got my NYC inspection
and it was nothing. but a lot of people hate me cause i blind them when they high beem me i tailgate them.

Hey man I just got a pair of 2k2 hid how did u wire them in, which wires did u cut off and which ones did u connect together?

i got them done 4 me sorry but they are hot i also had the acura tl types hids but they got stolen but the maxima 1s are better

Well I was planning to get HID's also and didn't know that is something you had to worry about with inspection. I'm from NY but I have NC plates becuz the insurance is like $4000 cheaper. Does anyone in NC know how HID's would effect inspection?
