How much have you paid to get the brake pads replaced?
 

Well it was that time, and I paid 80$ flat for the pads and labor.

Is that too much? If it is I won't go back to the same place again.

I paid about $35 for front and rear and did them myself. It is not that hard, just have somebody with you that knows how to do it. Also buy the Haynes Manual, it shows the complete breakdown of the entire vehicle and for $15 it is a pretty good investment.

If you have a good socket wrench set and a rubber mallet, you can do this job in no time. It's definitely a waste of money to let someone do a brake job on your car.

I paid $45 for my pads and $25 for the install the last time I didn't have a buddy do them. I don't think 80 flat is a bad price, considering the cost of the pads.

I haen't pad for a brake job in a really long time. Dealer will charge around $150 bucks to just do fronts or backs so the price you got is good.

Brakes take about 20 minutes to do with the right tools.

I just did my fronts and backs:

Front pads: $32.xx
Back pads: $19.00

I paid $100 to have it done by Nissan (only front pads). It's really easy to do it yourself (with the Haynes manual), but the original Nissan pads lasts much longer than aftermarket.

I am doing my front ones tonight:D. I paid $53 for OEM brakes, and I get wholesale price 'cause I work at a dealership. I noticed some of you getting them much cheaper, what gives? How did you guys get them so cheap.

i think the ones people are getting cheaper are not OEM, i paid 35 for front and back pads from autozone but they're not OEM

I got ripped. I paid $61 for some Hawk Performance Pads and $44 each for some brembo OEM replacement rotors, but was charged $71 by Pep Boys to install.

Not neccessarily. Performance pads will always run a bit more. Most of the low prices quoted so far seem to be for auto-parts store brand pads, or those carried in chain stores.

The Hawks are a fine pad - I don't think you were ripped off. What you paid is pretty close to the going rate for those pads. I'd bet the bank you're getting a better friction material than some of the $35-$40 sets you could have bought. (don't mean to bash them, there are many decent economical pads out there, but you do sacrifice some performance with the more affordable option, in most cases).

I paid about $79 for my (front only) Porterfield R4-S's & did the work myself. -Just another performance pad option. Better bite, better stopping power. Nothing wrong with that. Feel better?

I've tried both the Axxis Metal Masters ($47 front) and the Axxis Metal-Lux ($25 front), they were both great pads.

I just change my brakes last week and it took me 35minutes in the cold, and with a crappy jack. But I've changed maxima brakes a few times so I know exactly what to do. But to a novice you should easily be able to do it in under an hour with just a socket set and a nice C-clamp.

This is something that once you do it yourself, you'll never pay anybody to do it for you again.

I just got the front pads replaced.

OEM will be the longest lasting pad you can buy in most cases, rest assured.
