The heat in my 95 doesn't get as hot anymore.
I have a 95 SE with manual heat. Sometime very recently it stopped blowing as hard and doesn't get nearly as hot as it used to. I did some searching and I found this post which had this link http://64.252.159.123/~doug/ha1-38b.pdf and seemed to help the original poster but the link no longer works. So I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out what it could possibly be? Thanks.

You said it does'nt blow as hard, well i dont know albout that but albout your heat, It maybe your thurmostat or your heater coil.
good luck |
If you have a problem, it might be your thermostat. But there something else: are you using synthetic or even semi-synthetic oil? Not only does it make the car run better and last longer, but it also makes the car run cooler. So, running your Maxima cooler in the cold winter will add up to a not so hot heater. In which case, you may not have a problem at all, your car is just too cool:cool::laugh:

OK. Do the basics 1st. Make sure your coolant is all filled up. On a cold car, open the radiator cap and see if the coolant filled all the way up. If it's low, top it off with 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water. Then drive the car and see how everything works out.
If that's not it, then replace your thermostat. Get the part from the dealer, it's like $14. To find its location on the car, follow the bottom radiator hose from the radiator to the engine. You see where that hose mounts to the engine? THAT's the thermostat. It's held in by three nuts. The space is kindof tight. You'll need a ratchet and a deep socket, I forget which size, to open all three. Replace the thermostat and replace any coolant that will have spilled out and see how that goes. DW Originally posted by Sorgasm nope, no synthetic. ok, so where should I start to check what's wrong and how do I do it? |
Drive it harder, much harder, that should heat it up:laugh: I was actually looking for a way to keep mine cooler, and was wondering if I could buy a better thermostat for that. With the Y-pipe it sits just a hair below mid level on the water temp.
