HELP!!! Lights don't work

hey guys, so I did the corner rewire thing today and the first one's totally working. Then I do the second one and it doesn't work. I mess around a little more thinking I did something wrong. nope everything is in place. A minute later both the corner headlights go out and on top of that, the clear corners on the bottom go out too.????!!!! What the crap..??? What could it be??? blown fuse??? it's not the bulbs... please help. it's driving me nuts.

did u check your fuses??

Dasyce Jan 29, 2003 06:07 PM

its ur fuse.. look at the fuse box under the steering wheel, and i think theres a fuse labeled rear lights.. its a 7.5 amp fuse. replace this fuse with a 10 amp fuse.. if u don't understand what i'm talking about run a search.. :)

thanks, if the rear light fuse goes out, will the corner and bumper lights go out too, or is there a seperate fuse for those...?

hey guys after messing around with the fuses, i think it's something else. every time i put a fuse in there it, blows instantly. i tries 7.5, then 10, then 15, then 20 amps. and they all blew. so what else could it be??? help??? anyone else experience this after corner rewire???

check your wiring, there must be a bad connection somewhere.

You probably grounded the wrong wire so there is an closed circuit where you obviously don't want one.

He means you connected a positive wire to a ground(negative) wire. And you've short circuted the wiring. If I were you, I'd undo the second corner rewire you did. Put in a new fuse, (10 or 15 amps) and test your lights. If it still blows the fuse, undo the first corner rewire you did. This time make sure you test your connections to see if they are positive or negative (correct polarity) and that you don't have a positive connected to a negative. Good luck!!

Definately check your grounds....I had this problem wiring neons....

I'll bet when resoldering the wire, you may have missed a strand of wire and when you put it back together it touches the bulb socket housing which is grounded out.

IMPORTANT: Don't ever put in fuses of higher amperage into a fuse socket that is rated lower. There's a reason for this. Often the wiring and sockets are only rated for that amperage and putting in a bigger fuse could damage your car. Especially don't do this if you are blowing fuses.

check out the lights compare it with a 6oook hid kit. it's not that bad for non hid bulbs. almost hid-like..

Exactly right, but in this case he's okay with anything lower than 15 amps. There is a second fuse located under the hood that will protect him.
