a VERY annoying sound when it's very cold
 

Hi, I live in Canada and we have very cold winters here but since this is my first winter with my max, I found out a lil prob that is very annoying. When it's very cold outside (- 30-40 C), the car make a sound that sounds like if the body of the body was getting twist and it wasn't greased or something like that. It's a kind of cracking noise like a door not greased enough but it's my car and it is very loud. This happens every time I get a lil bump and I feel so embarassed of that noise that those days, I don't want any friends to get in the car...

damn that's pretty cold... and here i am *****ing about 40 degrees cali weather. Anywho, sounds like the body of ure car is freezin over! maybe there's water or something on the hinges that cause it to freeze then crack when u open it...

btw, i know what kind of sound you are talking about, the refridgerator in my garage makes that sound whenever i open it.

Your bones would creak too if you had to stand outside in -30c weather.

IIRC -40 is the "magic" number where degrees C is the same as degrees F. Unlikely many that post here, if any, routinely see those types of low temps. What other things do you need to do out of the ordinary (battery warmer, dipstick warmer, etc) for the extremely cold temps? Perhaps that would shed some insight.

If it's when you go over bumps I believe that would be the strut bearing. I have a similar noise when it is cold and asked about it here, that is the answer I got.
