what are the BEST tires for my 17's?

i kno, i know... search... and i did... but i got so many conflicting views i was no better off then where i started. i bought 2 new front tires yesterday and i was reading on here that people do not like them too much. i have the toyo proxes FZ4's. they cost me $170 each! ouch! but they said if i do not like my tires then i can get new one free of charge within a month. the measurements are: 235/40/17. i need these to go on my 17" enkei rims. (pics on my website)

PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

i am looking for the best performance posiable, tracton, cornering, and also in the snow as well. (i know all performance tire suck in snow.) and i tryed tirerack.com, but i don't really trust their website.

thanks for all your help.

Chris

If you aren't concerned with money, I think the Pilot Sports are probably your best bet. I think they even come in the run flat variety.. those are around 270 a tire though heh. There are a few Pilot Sports, but if you want some snow traction go with the all seasons. My friend has them on his volvo S70 T5 and they do pretty well in the snow considering the aggressive tread pattern.

I hear Kumho's are pretty good. :)

yeah Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires are pretty good. and cheap to. My brother has these on his 10sec dsm. He gets really good 1.5 launches with these tires.

Pirelli p7000's. You'll actually be able to drive in the snow.

At the very least exchange them to get the right size... you should be running 235/45/17 to maintain speedo accuracy. Plus it'll give the rim a slightly bigger cushion against those random "oh sh*t" bumps. :)

No he means Hankook, you mean Nankang, they are 2 different brands.

BTW who the heck suckered you into FZ4s for $170 a tire. The FZ4 is a $130 tire in that size. Sounds like you got charged for Toyo T1-S actually. The T1-S is Toyo's Max Performance tire. The FZ4 is just an "all season high performance" tire.

BTW the FZ4s suck in the snow, but ANY tire that is good on dry pavement is going to suck in the snow. You really shouldn't mix the two. You are going to have to lean one way or the other... all season tires or performance tires. There are tires that claim to do both, and some do it fairly well, but those tires do not perform up to par with a tire made specifically for all season or specifically for performance. You shouldn't be running aftermarket wheels in the snow anyhow, it's just asking for trouble and I guarantee you will wish you hadn't.

thanks for all your replys. i don't think i wanna pay 270 a tire! :) lol, but around the $200 range is good. i know i shouldn't use them in the snow, but i don't have my factory rims to put on my snow tires, so unfortunetly i don't have a choice. :( so i am going to need the best performance tires that will still work in the snow.

i heard alot of bad things about my tires so i don't really want to keep them for much longer. but how are the dunlop sport 9000's? also, should i really get 235/45/17's? i kinda like the 235/40/17's.. the side wall is smaller. :)

I second that! I use Nokian NRWs in the winter. They're great in the dry (with cold exterior temp). I'm thinking of switching my FZ4s to Yoko AVS ES100s as soon as I get a chance.

Oh my bad. I meant NANKANG. I'm an idiot cause I have Nankangs with 17s and I even forgot how to spell it:laugh: Hankook >>> Nankang.... not even close. my bad, I was dosing off that night:o

ive got the rage huggers (i think thats the model) on my 17's. i jus got them on sunday, but they seem to be doing pretty well. the only thing is, in 5 days, ive been lucky enough to pick up a screw in each one of my rear tires:bawling: but at least the guy i got them off of had the warranty on the tires, and they are supposed to fix
